Back from Whitby, and while I saw a handful of bands (more about those later in the week), today it’s back to the best tracks of the past month.
A quick, later post than usual this week. This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps […]
Whitby and Hallowe’en around the corner, so time for another Livestream.
Frustration at lack of progress, a lack of things being done, at work colleagues, at slow people on the street in front of me. Oh yes, I perhaps have had a habit of showing my frustration all too readily over the years (and it’s something I’m trying not to do in future). So, needless to […]
I conclude – well, kinda – the short song title series with four-letter-word song titles, and this one took a lot of work.
At some point back in the weeks before Christmas – and yes, booze might have been involved – as we had an evening watching a Nu-Metal countdown on one of the music channels, we resolved that it might be fun to do a night revolving around that.
Lockdown might be over soon, who knows. But in the meantime, we continue with fortnightly editions of /Stormblast, and this week we were back to normal, ish.

A really enjoyable evening playing extreme metal last night, with a good number of new songs played from 2021 releases, as well as a variety of old and new tracks otherwise. I’m conscious that I need to keep the night fresh with new music as much as possible, as the scene evolves.
Thus ends /Stormblast for 2020. The resurrection of my old Sheffield-based extreme metal night at the beginning of lockdown in the Spring turned out to be a popular move, and much of the old community has been joined by a new community, and it’s been a lot of fun. I’ve returned to old music, and […]
Onto the third and final week of /Countdown/2020 on amodelofcontrol.com, and this week I’m looking at the best albums of the year. As I’m sure I’ve explained before, I treat the “year” as 01-December to 30-November, to allow me a cut-off point, and to allow this to be done and dusted before Christmas so that […]
Welcome to the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2020, which begins this week. Over this and the next two Tuesdays, I’ll be rounding up the best music of the year in various categories. In coming weeks there will be the wrap of the best tracks and the best albums.

The current lockdown has stopped the entertainment industry – at least in terms of physical venues – dead in its tracks, but I guess one of the benefits of the internet age is that we can do things online instead. So, after years of considering whether to bring Stormblast back in one form or another […]
