About this time last year, I attended my first BEAT:CANCER show, which was something of a voyage of discovery in what felt like a parallel scene, with a good number of people I rarely saw at other shows I attended, and a number of artists that I’d never come across before.

After last week, where I finally looked at Opening Songs on albums, this week, I’m heading to the other end of the album, to the Closing Song. But not secret tracks, or outros, songs that actually close albums properly, and interestingly, there are a number of more recent songs featured this week.
There is a good reason why it has taken 347 editions of my Tuesday Ten series to get ’round to doing my favourite opening tracks – mainly because I didn’t want to come across all Rob Gordon and Barry Judd in High Fidelity.

As we hurtle into Autumn, I’m now already considering what might be the best of 2018. Certainly, some of the releases featured this week will count toward that, but as always I cannot include everything – much as I’d like to.
