/Welcome to the Future /285 /Events, Livestreams and New Releases 13-Mar 2025

A new tranche of releases coming your way, or that have come out in the past couple of weeks. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get on with it.

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

/Releases out today or recently

/Album of the Week

07-Mar 2025 / Bob Mould / Here We Go Crazy / Bandcamp
Bob Mould returns (at least in part) to the thrilling, melodic rock of his Sugar period for his outstanding new album. Remember when Alt Rock was a joy to listen to? This is half an hour of that.
14-Mar 2025 / Clipping. / Dead Channel Sky / Bandcamp
Clipping. go full-on cyberpunk industrial rap on their outstanding new album.

/New Albums

21-Feb 2025 / SPC ECO / Hello / Bandcamp
Dean and Rose Garcia continue their long-running, shoegaze-electronic project.
28-Feb 2025 / doves / Constellations for the Lonely / Official Artist Store
25 years on from the beauty and darkness of Lost Souls, Doves return with another album of bleak and elegant songs, remaining the indie-rock band who reminded many (including me) that it’s ok to not be ok, and to be honest about feelings and mental health.
28-Feb 2025 / The Tiger Lillies / Thank You and Good Night / Official Artist Store
The Soho veterans are back once again.
28-Feb 2025 / tunic / A Harmony of Loss Has Been Sung / Bandcamp
A scorching album about loss and the emotions that spin out from it.
28-Feb 2025 / Vacuous / In His Blood / Bandcamp
Modern, UK death metal that will take your face off.
14-Mar 2025 / The Body & Intensive Care / Was I Good Enough? / Bandcamp
The Body take on another collaboration, this time with Toronto industrial duo Intensive Care, and the results are overwhelmingly nasty (and great).

/New Singles/EPs

28-Feb 2025 / This Morn’ Omina / Omm of Life / Bandcamp
The tribal-industrial overloads burst back into life.
01-Mar 2025 / Frankie Heartless / Siren Song / Streaming Links
A striking new single from London-based artist Frankie Heartless (co-written with Steve Horry, once of 586 and the club Nuis@nce) sees quasi-operatic vocals soaring over a baroque synthpop sound. It’s an impressive protest song with a sharp video, too.
07-Mar 2025 / Deviant / Speak of the Devil / Bandcamp
Deviant return after sometime away (aside from the odd live show), and their new EP is some impressive, punchy new versions of some of their best songs, alongside some outstanding remixes and a cover of Let Me Entertain You that is better than it has any right to be…
14-Mar 2025 / Deathboy / I Forget Better / Bandcamp
Also returning is Deathboy, who plays live in London tonight for the first time in six or seven years. The new single is a great, gloomy downtempo track that owes something to Massive Attack, to these ears.
14-Mar 2025 / Derision Cult / Mercenary Notes Pt 2 / Bandcamp
The follow-up to the excellent release from last year.
14-Mar 2025 / ULTRA SUNN / The Beast In You / Bandcamp
The first single from the upcoming second ULTRA SUNN album continues their winning streak: thumping darkwave with big hooks and impassioned delivery.

/New Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

21-Feb 2025 / UCNX / Replicator II / Bandcamp
A fascinating compilation of covers by industrial band UCNX.
28-Feb 2025 / Vision of Disorder / Vision of Disorder / Imprint / Cherry Red Store
Two classic slices of hardcore reissued after a long time.
07-Mar 2025 / Various Artists / Los Angeles – from the ashes – Charity Compilation / Bandcamp
A compilation to raise money to help those affected by the LA fires this year.

/Upcoming Releases

/Upcoming Albums

25-Apr 2025 / Statiqbloom + Blush Response / Folding In / Bandcamp
An intriguing meeting of industrial minds.
02-May 2025 / Model/Actriz / Pirouette / Bandcamp
The taut, weirdly danceable noise rock merchants back with a second album.
23-May 2025 / Skunk Anansie / The Painful Truth / Official Artist Store
There’s been the odd single, but the announcement of the first SA album in nine years was still a bit of a surprise.
23-May 2025 / The Northern Territories / A Star In Orbit Still / Bandcamp
A Swedish band returning after nearly thirty years, and their new material returns to their melancholic synthpop sound.
30-May 2025 / Garbage / Let All That We Imagine Be The Light / Official Artist Store
Garbage are apparently going for a more positive sound this time around – we shall see when a single is released…
30-May 2025 / Kathryn Joseph / WE WERE MADE PREY / Bandcamp
Kathryn Joseph’s sparse, ethereal music seems to have taken a turn with the new material – the first single is more electronic than before, but no less affecting.
30-May 2025 / Swans / Birthing / Official Label Store
What is reputedly the final Swans album proper isn’t letting up, at least if the nineteen minute lead single is anything to go by…
06-Jun 2025 / Paul Ion Barker / Knife The Ally / Bandcamp
He’s been back working with Al Jourgensen, but still finding time to work on his own solo career.
Jul 2025 / Caustic / FIEND I & FIEND II / Kickstarter
The initial target met within ninety minutes – for Caustic’s potentially last albums.
29-Aug 2025 / Nova Twins / Parasites & Butterflies / Official Artist Store
One of UK rock’s most fascinating duos continue their rise, the new singles have been great.

/Upcoming EPs/Singles

11-Apr 2025 / set dressing / I can’t be alone tonite / Bandcamp
Scott Fair of Mandy, Indiana takes a very different approach with a new side-project, that feels brighter and uncomfortably weirder than the direct, ferocious sound of the parent band.

/Upcoming Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

28-Mar 2025 / Red Snapper / Reeled and Skinned (30th Anniversary Edition) / Bleep
The glorious debut from Red Snapper – jazzy electronics and downtempo blues – gets a thirtieth anniversary brush-up. I feel old…
02-May 2025 / Various Artists / Electronic Saviors Vol. 7: ReUnion / Official Label Store
It’s been a while, but the seventh Electronic Saviors is nearly here at last.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. The listing has had a revamp and redesign (and I’m re-adding events, so it’s a bit of a work in progress).

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
