/Welcome to the Future /242 /Events, Livestreams and New Releases 31-Mar 2023

Another hefty list of releases to cover this week.

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/Release of the week

R&M roar back with an outstanding second album that is rewarding anew with every listen.

/New Albums

22-Mar 2023 / The New Division / Modern Life / Bandcamp
The outstanding new release from this melodic synthpop artist.
23-Mar 2023 / The Comet Line / Don’t turn your back on the sea / Spotify
The third album from this London indie band, with more tales of life and heartbreak.
24-Mar 2023 / Dawn Ray’d / To Know The Light / Bandcamp
Black metal but avowedly anti-fash and always fascinating.
24-Mar 2023 / DEBBY FRIDAY / GOOD LUCK / Bandcamp
I have no fucking idea of how to describe this, other than it is a brilliant amalgam of styles and absolutely kicks.
24-Mar 2023 / Depeche Mode / Memento Mori / Mute Bank Store
DM’s latest, the first without Fletch, and it is a fascinating trip into darkness.
24-Mar 2023 / MORK / Dypet / Bandcamp
These Norwegian black metallers return.
24-Mar 2023 / Metroland / 0 / Bandcamp
24-Mar 2023 / 808 DOT POP / MW720 / Bandcamp
Very unusually, a band and a related side-project release albums on the same day. Metroland take an austere electronic look at the fourth industrial revolution, while 808 DOT POP dig into radio and vintage electronics.
31-Mar 2023 / Edgey / Everything and Nothing / Bandcamp
Edgey returns, at least in part, to their furious industrial-breakcore.

/New Singles/EPs

10-Mar 2023 / KEN Mode / Painless / Bandcamp
A standalone new track that is an absolute, solid gold raging banger of a hardcore track.
20-Mar 2023 / Slighter / Pulling Me Under / Bandcamp
Slighter begins the cycle for This Futile Engine with a great new single featuring Craig Huxtable of Ohmelectronic.
22-Mar 2023 / Red Box / Wait For You / Spotify
A quite lovely new song from this brilliant band.
31-Mar 2023 / Rotersand / Forgotten Daydreams / Streaming Links
The latest new single from Rotersand, with more remixes too.

/New Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

24-Mar 2023 / Grant Lee Buffalo / Fuzzy / Rough Trade
24-Mar 2023 / Grant Lee Buffalo / Mighty Joe Moon / Rough Trade
Two somewhat lost classics get their due in the form of clear vinyl remasters.
31-Mar 2023 / Meshuggah / ObZen / Official Artist Store
Meshuggah return to one of their best albums.
31-Mar 2023 / Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark / Dazzle Ships (40th Anniversary) / Official Artist Store
The oft-misunderstood classic gets an elegant reissue release.

/Upcoming Albums

21-Apr 2023 / benefits / Nails / Bandcamp
Seething, political power that has found it’s moment. Who knew spoken word and vicious noise could work so well?
12-May 2023 / Ritual Howls / Virtue Falters / Bandcamp
Searing post-punk from this Detroit band.
19-May 2023 / The Ocean / Holocene / Bandcamp

None this week.

/Upcoming Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

07-Apr 2023 / Various Artists / Seismic Symphony: Turkey–Syria Earthquake Fundraiser / Bandcamp
Another sprawling fundraising compilation in the alternative realms.
14-Apr 2023 / Various Artists / Happy Land / Bandcamp
A fascinating look at overlooked electronic music from the UK in the early 1990s.
23-Jun 2023 / The Soft Moon / Exister Remixed / Bandcamp
A remix release to follow up from last year’s excellent album.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
