/Welcome to the Future /241 /Events, Livestreams and New Releases 17-Mar 2023

A week off for anniversary shenanigans, and I’ve got an awful lot to catch up on. I’ll also be DJing on a livestream this week, and at a couple of events in the coming months – details to follow.

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/Releases of the week

10-Mar 2023 / Fever Ray / Radical Romantics / Bandcamp
Karin Dreijer returns with their astounding third album that celebrates difference and, most obviously, queerness – and with a number of collaborators (including Olof Dreijer).
17-Mar 2023 / Beborn Beton / Darkness Falls Again / Bandcamp
Also returning after a good few years are Beborn Beton, whose quite brilliant new album mixes more thoughtful, slower-paced songs with some dancefloor dynamite.

/New Albums

10-Mar 2023 / Delerium / Signs / Bandcamp
Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber resume work as Delerium for the first album in seven years.
10-Mar 2023 / The Banishment / Machine and Bone / Official Artist Store
George Lynch and crew bring their industrial rock with a few unusual touches.
17-Mar 2023 / deathcrash / Less / Bandcamp
The latest post-rock buzz band deliver an even more delicate release.
17-Mar 2023 / Quiz Show / Quiz Show / Bandcamp
Chris Matthews (Shudder to Think) returns to music and in some respects, picks up like he never left off.

/New Singles/EPs

10-Mar 2023 / Dissociate / Opt Out / Bandcamp
An intriguing electronic releasee from Jonathan Ford.
13-Mar 2023 / Glass Apple Bonzai / Mysteries of the World / Bandcamp
The first track for 2023 from Glass Apple Bonzai, a rework of an older track, prior to a new album later in the year.
17-Mar 2023 / Kill Shelter & Death Loves Veronica / The Sex Tape Sessions EP / Bandcamp
A fascinating new release that looks at the commodification of musical artists in particularly blunt terms.
17-Mar 2023 / Dread Risks / Machine Identity (in the walls mix by God Module) / Bandcamp
A corking remix of one of the best songs from the recent Dread Risks album.

/New Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

03-Mar 2023 / Various Artists / Insulin Shocks / Bandcamp
Another sprawling underground industrial compilation, this time to raise funds for diabetes awareness and research, and a host of notable artists on it.
10-Mar 2023 / KANGA / KANGA / Bandcamp
The /amodelofcontrol.com album of the year 2016 gets a re-press and re-issue – it certainly deserves to be heard again.

/Upcoming Albums

22-Mar 2023 / The New Division / Modern Life / Official Artist Store
A new album from one of the best synthpop artists around.
21-Apr 2023 / ALL HANDS MAKE LIGHT / “Darling The Dawn” / Bandcamp
A new project from Ariel Engle (La Force, Patrick Watson, Broken Social Scene) and Efrim Manuel Menuck (Godspeed You! Black Emperor), and once again, it sounds a bit different to their individual work.
05-May 2023 / SQÜRL / Silver Haze / Bandcamp
Jim Jarmusch and Carter Logan, produced by Randall Dunn? Well it was never going to be normal, was it?
05-May 2023 / Therapy? / Hard Cold Fire / Official Artist Store
The rock veterans, now well into their third decade, are back with a new album after digging into their distant past in recent times.
12-May 2023 / Alison Goldfrapp / The Love Invention / Official Artist Store
The first solo album from Alison Goldfrapp, apparently a love letter to the dancefloor (and the first single certainly confirms that).
12-May 2023 / Industrial Puke / Born Into the Twisting Rope / Bandcamp
Searing crust-punk from this Swedish band.
02-Jun 2023 / PUPIL SLICER / BLOSSOM / Bandcamp
There’s been a fair amount of talk about the extraordinary quality of the current generation of UK metal bands, and here’s another: PUPIL SLICER arriving with their second album.
09-Jun 2023 / Godflesh / Purge / Official Artist Store
The industrial metal titans are back (and also headline Cold Waves in September).
09-Jun 2023 / Body of Light / Bitter Reflection / Bandcamp
Sleek, thoughtful synthpop from this Arizona duo, and even from the first track available, I can’t help feeling that there’s more fire burning through this (and a saxophone solo that works).
16-Jun 2023 / Creep Show / Yawning Abyss / Bandcamp
Mal, Benge and John Grant get back together.

/Upcoming EPs/Singles

None this week.

/Upcoming Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

19-May 2023 / The Lemonheads / Come On Feel (30th Anniversary Edition) / Bandcamp
The last great Lemonheads album, perhaps, gets a 30th anniversary reissue.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
