/Welcome to the Future/214/Events, Livestreams and new releases 27-May 2022

A bit of a grim end to the week, really, with the sudden death of Andy Fletcher of Depeche Mode announced yesterday (among a number of other notable deaths within about 24 hours). I wasn’t ever the devoted fan that many of my friends still are, but DM has been part of my musical life for as long as I can remember, and their music still casts an indelible shadow over synthpop, goth and industrial.

Anyway. This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Contents

/Releases out today or recently

/Album of the Week
/27-May 2022 / A Perfect Error / Midnight Wire /Bandcamp
Intriguing industrial from the Mid-West, that has echoes of NIN somewhere and unusual rhythm patterns.

/27-May 2022 / <PIG> / Baptise Bless & Bleed /Bandcamp
The Lord of Lard returns with a new EP (the songs I’ve heard so far are great).
/27-May 2022 / Various Artists / Todo Muere SBXV /Bandcamp
Sacred Bones mark their fifteen anniversary with a compilation of label artists covering their labelmates.
/27-May 2022 / HAEX / Reflections /Bandcamp
The excellent, occult-infused industrial of HAEX gets a remix release.

/27-May 2022 / Silver Walks / In Consequence (single) /Bandcamp
Silver Walks continue the run-up to their upcoming album with their latest single, featuring none other than Marc Heal on vocals.
/27-May 2022 / Will Haven / Wings of Mariposa (single) /Bandcamp
A new album and live dates are imminent, in the meantime here is a ferocious beatdown of a single from a band who know a thing or two about such sonic attacks.
/27-May 2022 / Underworld / Juanita 2022 /Official Artist Store
Underworld continue their occcasional reworks with a stomping rework of the glorious opener to Second Toughest…, complete with the Everything, Everything version joining it on the vinyl release.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week

/24-Jun 2022 / Front 242 / <Bandcamp
Another 242 lookback, this time with some remixes of some classics.
/24-Jun 2022 / Metroland / 4.0 EP /Bandcamp
Metroland begin their latest release cycle with a track that gives little clue, at least so far, to the likely overriding theme…
/15-Jul 2022 / Kill Shelter / Asylum /Bandcamp
Another wealth of guests collaborating on this upcoming album, the first track released (with Agent Side Grinder) is outstanding.
/16-Sep 2022 / Suede / Autofiction /Official Artist Store
After the lush depths of the last couple of Suede albums, it is perhaps a bit of a surprise to hear them strip everything back on new single She Still Leads Me On, a ripping, anthemic track.
/05-Oct 2022 / Ganser / Nothing You Do Matters EP /Bandcamp
The brilliant Chicago experimental noise rockers return with a new EP (with an unusually long time to release for an EP), but judging on the excellent first single, it will be worth the wait.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
