/Tuesday Ten/368/Tracks of the Month/Apr-19
The end of April is here, and we’re starting to see the early shoots of summer. So just the time for me to delve into this month’s best tracks, most of which are…darker.

It’s Friday, therefore time for the usual amodelofcontrol.com round-up of new music coming your way this week and soon, as well as a look at the events and gigs in the future, and finally nods to any other notable news that affects artists and music that I cover here.
Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.

As we reach into mid-July, here in England we’re currently fighting through the warmest period in some time. Yesterday was apparently the 16th consecutive day with temperatures above 28°C, and frankly, it’s felt like longer than that as London has broiled in the heat.
Back after a week off for Whitby, another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.
A double dose of 1997 this month, after Infest (and of course the writing of Memory of a Festival: 028 that followed it) took up my time at the end of August.
Over last year – to mark twenty years since I began writing about music – I ran a series of posts looking at the music I was buying and listening to in 1996 (and that was released that year), partly to jog my memory and partly to dig into my formative musical influences a bit, […]
Last week actually marked a significant milestone in my music fandom – 20-July was exactly twenty years since I first attended a live, professionally promoted gig. That first show, by the way, was the (free) Heineken Festival in Roundhay Park, Leeds – I went to two days of it. The Thursday night I saw Back […]
Actually inspired originally by seeing the godawful Akon’s Smack That a while back, this week’s Ten has been on the backburner for a few years, and a recent flash of inspiration – and the subsequent avalanche of additional suggestions as a result – has got me finishing it at last. So, we are this week […]
In a time where inequality is rising faster than in a long while, austerity is all the rage (despite the warnings that this is only making things worse), and the various results of the Euro crisis, to mention but a few things, I’d perhaps expect a rise in political comment from music or even comedy, […]
I’ve had this on my “to do” list of Tuesday Tens for about two years, but to be honest, I’ve been awaiting the right moment to use it. But with a new (rather lacklustre) DM album, the O2 shows this week (where I finally see them live after years of waiting), and an intriguing new […]
So…I’ve looked at the best gigs, live venues, and gigs at the London Astoria, bands at Infest, bands I’ve *not* seen live…but I’ve never had a look at live albums, somehow, as my girlfriend pointed out last week.
After finally seeing the Olympic Torch Relay last week – amongst the enormous crowds in the City of London on Thursday morning – as well as the spectacular finale to the opening ceremony with a seriously clever way to light the Olympic Flame in the stadium, not to mention the sad news of a colleague […]
There aren’t many bands I’ll shell out silly amounts of money for to see them live, but Rammstein are one of them. I’ve seen them five times previously over the past ten years, never been disappointed, always amazed and entertained, so when the “greatest hits” tour got announced there was no was I was missing […]
When I first thought about it, this was inspired by a seemingly never-ending parade of bands who seem to have come up with nothing new themselves that I keep hearing.
Onto part four of my 90s album run-down. There is again a Spotify playlist accompaniment to it, which is again only missing a couple of entries.
I’ve at least started heading to gigs in 2010 rather earlier than I did last year, and I picked a good one to start with, too: Rammstein at Wembley Arena. I’ve never been to Wembley Arena before, and I’d not heard a lot to recommend it, either, with many stories of atrocious sound. Of course, […]
Continuing the long journey through the decade, part seven.
