After a bit of a longer break than usual post-Christmas, I resume my /Tuesday Ten series as /amodelofcontrol.com nears the twenty-year mark.

Back to regular programming – and hopefully weekly posts again – as of this week, as July looks like it might be that little bit calmer than June was. But then, I think I said that before…
Another hefty list of releases to cover this week. This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, […]
Another busy week for releases – and new announcements this week. I’ve also added another swathe of events to the listing, too. Links below. Back to regular /Tuesday Ten postings, then, and this week I’ve moved on to something of an emotional subject: to care or not to care.
It’s baking outside, I’m coming out of the back of my first bout of COVID, and really, all I want to do is hide indoors, with a fan on and a continual supply of water. I’ve already covered extreme heat a few years ago, on /Tuesday Ten /337 /Hot Hot Hot!!!, by the way, so […]
A curious quirk of this series is that I occasionally get suggestions from friends for a subject to cover, and often, they are smart, considered subjects that I might not have thought of.
I conclude – well, kinda – the short song title series with four-letter-word song titles, and this one took a lot of work.
Just over two years ago, I asked for suggestions around songs involving the senses. Needless to say, this ended up being a gargantuan thread, with the easy decision made to split it out.
Over the past month or so, I’ve driven more than I have in the past few years. I’ve had the company of my wife, our music and the drone of the car engine for more hours than I can count, and at some point – I’ve had a lot of time to think – it […]
If like me, you’ve been despairing of politics of late, it won’t have escaped your notice that most right-wing leaders appear consumed by their own self, in extreme forms of hubris and arrogance. We have an American President that appears to believe he is above the law, and not far off the same with the […]
Back to Tuesday Tens after a bit of a break (an enforced one, really, after a busy period of work and other commitments), and I return this week to a post I’ve actually been thinking about for some years (and it will continue next week, too).
The fifth part of Transmission, the a-z of industrial. This continues our look at industrial bands beginning with “d”, and it’s a mix of new and old.
A second month of digging back into my memory bank to look at releases from 1997.
We’re into a new year, I’ve already got started with other posts, so here we go with the first new tracks post of 2017.
I have no idea how this one came up. A particular song was mentioned in the pub on the Monday night of Whitby last month, and all of a sudden five or six of us were coming up with a long, long list of songs along the same lines.
I actually started this 80s rundown a couple of years back, but life and other things have rather got in the way. So, a little bit of spare time has allowed me to get this finished. Without further ado, then, let’s get on with it.
Actually inspired originally by seeing the godawful Akon’s Smack That a while back, this week’s Ten has been on the backburner for a few years, and a recent flash of inspiration – and the subsequent avalanche of additional suggestions as a result – has got me finishing it at last. So, we are this week […]
Regular readers will be well used to this by now – at the end of each year, I round up my year in music over the course of successive weeks. This year there will be five posts, the dates of which are shown below. I’ve not had the time to write as many reviews as […]
I think that most of us that listen to a lot of music, and have been in one “scene” or another have a bucket list of bands that they simply have to see at some point or another. I’m no exception, and in my incessant gig-going in recent years, I’ve cleared many of the bands […]
