The current lockdown has stopped the entertainment industry – at least in terms of physical venues – dead in its tracks, but I guess one of the benefits of the internet age is that we can do things online instead. Thus, after some years of talking about it – and struggling to find a venue […]
We keep going in the lockdown. There are new releases, and still new music coming through, and buying music right now is the only way we can help. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now. /Welcome to the Future/124 /Events, gigs and […]

Following on from last week, there’s been lots of warnings of late. Warnings to social distance, warnings to stay at home, warnings about what to do if you’re infected. We’re also – well, were, before the rain came today – hearing announcements in Finsbury Park telling people not to sunbathe or lounge around in the […]

Everywhere I’ve looked over the past month, someone has been offering advice. Be that official Government advice, a Doctor’s advice, employer advice…your friend from down the road who did a first aid course once advice.
Promenade Cinema rather burst out of their native Sheffield a couple of years ago, with a handful of striking, elegant singles and a sensational debut album LIVING GHOSTS, that this site saw fit to award Album of the Year on /Countdown/Albums/2018. I still love that album, too, and did have a little fear in the […]

We’re continuing our journey through the a-z of industrial with a third and final look at the letter M. Needless to say this was recorded during the ongoing lockdown…
In what I think is a first – or at least the first time in a long time – I was messaged about a suggestion for a /Tuesday Ten recently (by someone who isn’t my partner), and this is out this week’s post came about. So thanks to Kai for suggesting an appropriate /Tuesday Ten […]
Continuing the process of wrapping up the last decade before it disappears too far into the rearview mirror, this is the final part of the best albums of the 2010s. This has been an interesting, and memory-laden trip doing this list. I’ve dredged up a few memories, reconnected with a few albums I’d not heard […]

In this period of enforced downtime – I last saw a gig on 05-Mar (Marika Hackman), and frankly who knows when I’m next going to get to go to one – I’m using the time to catch up on various amounts of writing for this site, and also get on with trying to make some […]

Blimey, even a month is a long time in music, eh? When I wrote /Tuesday Ten/398, there was a gathering storm on the horizon, so to speak, and since then, pretty much everything has ground to a halt unless it happens in your house, or on the internet. But, music is still being released.
