After last week’s filth and dirt, let us wipe the slate and this week, clean things up.

We are edging towards the end of what has felt like much colder winter than the past few years. Not that we see snow on the Kent coast – our winters here are wet and windy, almost constantly. But I grew up further north, on the fringes of the Pennines, where winters hit hard.
Another busy week for releases – and new announcements this week. I’ve also added another swathe of events to the listing, too. Links below. This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup […]
I continued with my /Countdown /2022 coverage this past week, with the final part (best gigs) to follow on Tuesday. /Welcome to the Future will now take a break until 06-Jan, where I will begin 2023 with the traditional roundup of expected/known releases for the new year. This post is a roundup of (relevant to […]
As I’ve noted previously my livestreams, like others, are beginning to wind down. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. There are still some things going on, as well as the usual slew of releases, so I continue to wrap up both, as […]
It’s Bandcamp Day again today (although I hear this might be the last one), so again, there are quite a few releases today. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the […]
This week’s post – the 450th /Tuesday Ten – was inspired by a conversation with Daisy while flicking through the music channels a couple of weeks ago. So much has happened already since then that I think we’ve forgotten some of the detail, but we were watching The White Stripes, and it got us thinking […]
Bandcamp day again already, and yet again, there’s another big list of releases. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day for now, still, so I continue to wrap up […]
Very occasionally at this time of year – and I’ve done this less than I thought I had – I turn to a subject that might have something to do with Valentine’s Day. This year is another of those, mainly as I’m still digging through the variety of as-yet-unused suggestion threads, and there was an […]
The first Friday of February, and it is Bandcamp Day once again – so there is a deluge of new releases and release announcements this week, perhaps more than I’ve ever had on one Friday to cover. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day for now, still, so […]
Into the last month of this bizarre, weird year – and this weekly release and events roundup keeps on going. There is still new music to enjoy, hence why I continue these Friday posts. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
Back into lockdown, and this weekly release and events roundup reaches /150. There is still new music to enjoy, hence why I continue these Friday posts. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
This week concludes a short series on Winning and Losing – a subject that’s been sat on the backburner here at /amodelofcontrol.com for over three years (I originally asked for suggestions on the subject back in January 2017). /Tuesday Ten/423/Everyone Must Win /Tuesday Ten/Playlists /Playlists/Spotify /Playlists/YouTube /Tuesday Ten/Winning and Losing /282/Poker Face /421/Follow the Leader […]
We keep going amid the lockdown. There are new releases, and still, new music coming through, and buying music right now is the only way we can help. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
Sometimes, it feels like my life is simply following a long list of instructions. How to work the various equipment in our homes and offices, how to use transport, how to get somewhere, the recipes we follow. Weather warnings, travel advice, reminders about things to do from friends and partners. How to do our jobs.
If like me, you’ve been despairing of politics of late, it won’t have escaped your notice that most right-wing leaders appear consumed by their own self, in extreme forms of hubris and arrogance. We have an American President that appears to believe he is above the law, and not far off the same with the […]
Are you ready for a little addition? Maybe some subtraction? Or I can just split the difference with you as we circle around a subject that can get very complex indeed. This is the first part of songs about mathematics, dealing with the “easy” stuff this week, and the really complex stuff next week.
The third part of Transmission, the a-z of industrial. Unlike “b”, where I just about had enough for one episode, there are so many bands beginning with “c” that this will spread across two episodes – and I still had to miss out a few.
Welcome to the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2017, which begins this week. Over this and the next three Tuesdays, I’ll be rounding up the best music of the year in various categories. In coming weeks there will be the best tracks, the best albums, and the best gigs.
This week, I’m back to talking to someone I’ve wanted to catch up with for some time. As The Rearview Mirror: 010 perhaps suggested, I’m a long, long time fan of the work of Dean Garcia, both of his work with Curve, and his more recent work under the SPC ECO name.
