/Welcome to the Future /232 /Events, Livestreams and new releases 23-Dec 2022

I continued with my /Countdown /2022 coverage this past week, with the final part (best gigs) to follow on Tuesday.

/Welcome to the Future will now take a break until 06-Jan, where I will begin 2023 with the traditional roundup of expected/known releases for the new year.

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/New Albums

Catching up on a couple of releases I’d previously missed that warrant attention firstly this week.

10-Oct 2022 / Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan / Districts, Roads, Open Space /Bandcamp
The decidedly retro covers and title gives away little, as it happens – what I termed “Brutalist Ambient” when I first heard it earlier this week. Melancholy electronics that is, appropriately enough, in shades of grey.
18-Oct 2022 / Maral / Ground Groove /Bandcamp
A mix of dub, industrial and samples of Iranian music of the past. A fascinating listen.
18-Dec 2022 / Dissonance / Something Unforgivable /Bandcamp
This long-running and often great industrial project releases their first full-length album in a while.

/New Singles/EPs

14-Dec 2022 / KLACK / Believe /Bandcamp
KLACK continue their Christmas tradition of a new cover, and yes, this is indeed a New Beat take on Cher’s Believe
16-Dec 2022 / Dead Blood Cells / Locked Away EP /Bandcamp
This Kent industrial artist release their most accessible, interesting track yet.
16-Dec 2022 / Neuroticfish / Velocity N20 EP /Bandcamp
A classic Neuroticfish track turns twenty (!!!), gets an excellent new rework as well as some outstanding remixes, and also a taster for a new album in 2023.

/New Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

16-Dec 2022 / Various Artists / Artificial Intelligence (30th Anniversary) /Bleep
The legendary Warp compilation – that remains every bit as brilliant as it was when it was first released – gets a 30th birthday reissue. Sadly I blinked and missed the vinyl, so I had to settle for the high-quality digital download…
16-Dec 2022 / Various Artists / AnalogueTrash: Label Sampler Vol. 6 /Bandcamp
The eclectic, Northern England-based label release their latest sampler.
23-Dec 2022 / Various Artists / Re:Mission Entertainment 2022 Label Compilation /Bandcamp
Re:Mission summarise their high-quality 2022 releases in compilation form.

/Upcoming Releases announced today or recently

/Upcoming Albums

None this week.

/Upcoming Singles

09-Jan 2023 / KLACK / Inconscio Viola / KLACK / Inconscio Viola Split EP /Bandcamp
Two doses of KLACK in a week, with this new split EP coming in the new year.

/Upcoming Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

10-Feb 2023 / Curve / Blindfold EP /Townsend Music Stores
10-Feb 2023 / Curve / Frozen EP /Townsend Music Stores
10-Feb 2023 / Curve / Cherry EP /Townsend Music Stores
The three classic early Curve EPs get lavish (and expensive) vinyl reissues (you can also buy them as a set of three).

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
