/Welcome to the Future /229 /Events, Livestreams and new releases 18-Nov 2022

Nearing the end of the year now – and thus I’m deep in writing my end of year lists already (coming in December).

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/Events, Livestreams and new releases 18-Nov 2022
/Previous /228/11-Nov /227/28-Oct /226/21-Oct

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Contents

/Releases out today or recently

/Album of the Week
18-Nov 2022 / Soulside / A Brief Moment In The Sun /Bandcamp
The first new album in over thirty years from these DC post-hardcore legends – three members of whom went on to form Girls Against Boys, and the lineage is clear here on this great album.

/New Albums

18-Nov 2022 / A Projection / In A Different Light /Bandcamp
More electro-post-punk from this Swedish band.

/New Singles/EPs

07-Nov 2022 / Laibach / The Future /Bandcamp
From their upcoming EP, Laibach take on one of Leonard Cohen’s greatest, and darkest, songs, and it is a quite brilliant rework.
15-Nov 2022 / SCALPING / Tether feat. DÆMON (Daddy G vs Robot Club Remix) /Bandcamp
Ahead of their big headline show in London tomorrow, SCALPING release an outstanding, brooding remix which involves a big Bristol name.
18-Nov 2022 / The Empty Page / Dry Ice /Bandcamp
I featured this band back on /Tuesday Ten /357 in early 2019, and they return at last with a new single (and an album as yet untitled, coming next year). As before, this is fizzing with energy, not to mention a fantastic earworm of a chorus.
18-Nov 2022 / FORTÍÐ / Dómur um dauðan hvern /Bandcamp
A new, two-track release from this Icelandic Black Metal act.

/New Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

18-Nov 2022 / The Young Gods / T.V. Sky (30th Anniversary) /Official Artist Store
One of the most essential, game-changing releases in industrial music gets a richly deserved 30th anniversary remaster and reissue.

/Upcoming Albums

20-Jan 2023 / Brainiac / The Predator Nominate EP /Touch & Go Store
Following on from the reissuing of pretty much all their backcatalogue and archive material, the near-mythical material they were working on at the time of Tim Taylor’s death in 1997 is coming at last.
10-Mar 2023 / Fever Ray / Radical Romantics /Bandcamp
The latest album from Karin Dreijer, which appears (going on the remarkable first couple of singles) to be a plunge back into the darkness.

/Upcoming Singles

01-Dec 2022 / The Juggernauts / Fear EP /Bandcamp
Out in a couple of weeks, just in time for the BIMFest that I cannot make this year, the latest single from The Juggernauts.
02-Dec 2022 / Brutalist Architecture In The Sun / Complete The Shape /Bandcamp
This ever-intriguing coldwave/post-punk duo bring us a track that is apparently a nod to their “80s industrial/Belgian New Beat heritage”. Colour me interested…

/Upcoming Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

24-Feb 2023 / Various Artists / Young Limbs Rise Again – The Story Of The Batcave Nightclub 1982 – 1985 /TM Stores
A sprawling (and expensive) compilation covering the music of the pioneering Goth Club the Batcave.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
