But Listen: 017: Covenant – Ritual Noise EP
So yes, they’re back, and unlike some of their peers it has been worth the wait. RN is another anthemic dancefloor tune, made even catchier by the use of vocoders.

This act – the work of Chris McCall – one of many of friends of mine that are really delivering the goods of late with some top-quality industrial music. This new EP is frankly fucking fantastic – track of note being the quite sublime title track Organized Sound.
/Stormblast last night was a little quieter than recent weeks, with many of the regulars missing for one reason or the other. Ho hum – there's always next week. Which reminds me – next week is Foreverguardian and Barney DJing, as I am off to see Goldfrapp at Sheffield Octagon.
Once again last night /Stormblast proved to be a whole stack of fun – despite a slow start it was really busy again later on. Thanks as ever to all that came down. A nutcase from Wednesday didn't join us, I don't think – I reckon that could have been a good thing…
Thus endeth another week of DJing, and this week has been a great one for it. Both /tcf on Tuesday and now /Stormblast last night were really busy, a great atmosphere and of course many great tunes. Thanks to all that have made it down this week, of course.
Last night was again a good turnout – a bit down on recent weeks, partly I think due to the last week of exams for many of our studenty-types, and also as I understand a gig that a few of our usual visitors were at the night before became something of a heavy night…! Ho […]
Once again Stormblast was great fun last night. Foreverguardian wasn't well enough to DJ or come down, so Barney helped out at short notice. Thanks to all that came down, was good to see a good number of people that I have not seen in too long.
…onto The Nelson for Stormblast – which although quieter than recent weeks was still damned good fun. Town generally seemed utterly dead anyway, last night.
A quieter night than previous weeks at Stormblast last night – the new year's hangover seemingly finally kicking in for everybody. Still a good number down at The Nelson, though, and it was as fun as ever – thanks to all that came down (including a number of people I have not seen for some […]
Much to our absolute and utter astonishment, Stormblast was as busy as it has been for the past weeks last night – despite town appearing to not be all that busy (and of course, it being really fucking cold).
Stormblast last night was yet another blast of the usual – i.e. total lunacy. Highlights including various groups of locals (i.e. non-metallers) happily dealing with black metal, but being scared by Meshuggah, and as Andy noted, their reaction to Opeth (the opening to the utterly sublime Ghost of Perdition is a little sudden, shall we […]
I was in Berlin this week, so I left Stormblast in the capable hands of my colleagues, and when I find the old setlist, I’ll add it…
First up were Skinflick. I’ve gone on record in the past with opinions on them (in short: too much of a wannabe Killing Joke, too much volume and little of actual interest), so I was a little surprised to find them sounding different to what I recall. Although, it seems they have a new line-up, […]
Stormblast continues to grow and get better – many, many thanks to all that come down for it, despite my initial reservations it has done really well. I just wish we had more time to play all the stuff that is requested!
No order for these, as it has been something of a top year for gigs and trying to pick the best one has been impossible…
The best five tracks of 2005.
I’ve been trailing this for a while, so it’s time I got on with it and posted it.
I only caught the second half of the first support Hatesphere‘s set. And they were pretty damned good, too. Good old-school thrash, really – from a band that clearly loved what they were doing, and that enthusiasm rubbed off on the crowd. The lead singer provided the quotes of the night, too: “Here’s a song […]
An interesting night, last night. Stormblast was fantastic fun with a great turnout and many amusingly pissed metallers. (I am kinda glad the viking drinking horns were forgotten, though)
The fourth night of Stormblast wasn’t too bad, though, considering we lost a number of our usual audience to a gig at D’n’R Live.
