/DJ/Stormblast/152 – 27-May 2021
Lockdown might be over soon, who knows. But in the meantime, we continue with fortnightly editions of /Stormblast, and this week we were back to normal, ish.

As we continue in this strange new world, home-based entertainment is now the thing. So, I guess one of the benefits of the internet age is that we can do things online instead. This has allowed me to experiment a bit.
As I’ve noted before, I come from a military family. My parents both lived overseas as children and teenagers when their fathers were stationed in Germany (in different locations), and then met while living on adjacent army camps, as I understand it, north of Salisbury – and indeed I was born in Salisbury, and for […]
We hurtle toward the end of May, and hopefully an actual summer soon, and Livestreams will resume from me next week. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day, for […]
Now the majority of the moving-in rigmarole is finally done – we have a couple of small side tables to build and that’s about it – not to mention our fibre broadband finally installed and live, I can begin to return to some kind of normality on /amodelofcontrol.com. That should mean a return to weekly […]
Another week, another set of new releases. We should finally have fibre broadband back next week, too, so Livestreams will resume from me soon. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of […]
It’s Bandcamp Day again today (although I hear this might be the last one), so again, there are quite a few releases today. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the […]
A couple of months ago, I recorded two lengthy interviews with new artists that I wanted to talk about. Then, we got caught up in work and a house move, and they had to sit on the backburner for a bit. But now we’re successfully moved, and I’ve had a spare evening to sit down, […]
Into the fifteenth year of /Tracks of the Month posts, then, and this post has been written mostly during a quieter weekend, after a week that has seen a blizzard of unpacking as we settle into our new house on the Kent coast. One thing still not sorted, mind, is our internet – currently working […]
Starting a path back to normal after a week or more away from this website thanks to moving house, and the first tentative step back is to resume the weekly Friday posts. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for […]
In a decision that perhaps would have surprised me a few years ago, never mind my wife, later this week we move out of London, our home for more than the past decade, for a new life by the coast. I’ve spent over a quarter of my life in this one flat in Finsbury Park, […]
After some years of talking about it – and struggling to find a venue – Andy and I decided finally to bring /Rivet back in 2020, and in 2021, we’re back as long as lockdown allows.
Another quieter week on the release front this week. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day, for now, still, so I continue to wrap up both.

This week’s post – the 450th /Tuesday Ten – was inspired by a conversation with Daisy while flicking through the music channels a couple of weeks ago. So much has happened already since then that I think we’ve forgotten some of the detail, but we were watching The White Stripes, and it got us thinking […]
Bandcamp Friday has been and gone, so it is a bit of a quieter week on the release front this week. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day, for […]
One of the really liberating things about DJing on livestreams is the freedom that it gives. No longer beholden to a dancefloor, I can be far more flexible in what I play, and as a result, it has spawned a few one-off nights to test particular waters.
At some point back in the weeks before Christmas – and yes, booze might have been involved – as we had an evening watching a Nu-Metal countdown on one of the music channels, we resolved that it might be fun to do a night revolving around that.
Despite the cooler temperatures for the past day or so, the past week generally has finally felt like Spring has arrived. We’ve basked in sunshine for a few days, it’s been that bit warmer, and suddenly Finsbury Park is full of green again.
