Continuing my less intensive live streaming, particularly now I have a new job that is likely to mean quite a bit of travelling.

Going up, or going down? This week is about songs that do one, the other, or in a couple of cases, both. And not, necessarily, are directions involved.
Being away for family reasons last week, and starting a new job has meant I had to miss a week, so this is two weeks of releases and announcements, as I try to keep up… The post, then, is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events […]
The first interview of 2022 on /amodelofcontrol.com is with a band I’ve long wanted to talk to – and indeed I’ve been listening to them for a long time. LA-based darkwave/goth/industrial (more on genre fluidity and definitions later) band Collide has been part of my musical life for over two decades, a group that never […]
It has been a chaotic, busy month, as we’ve dealt with my father in hospital (still, although he’s now recovering at last), my wife being ill with tonsilitis, and me preparing to start my new job (today). But even among all of that, I’ve managed to find time to write about another bumper batch of […]
After a bit of a break, we decided that we were ready to return to the sticky-floored metal clubs of our youth for another does of /A Certain Shade of Green. 24-Feb was determined to be International EBM Day a few years back (24/2 – geddit?), and so increasingly, it has become a day where the roots and history of the musical style are celebrated.
It will not have escaped the notice of British and north-west European readers that there’s been a bit of Weather this week. Indeed, since the Met Office introduced names for major storms, it is the first time that three such storms have swept through the UK within seven days.
Another busy week of releases and announcements, as I try to keep up… The post, then, is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends […]
Frustration at lack of progress, a lack of things being done, at work colleagues, at slow people on the street in front of me. Oh yes, I perhaps have had a habit of showing my frustration all too readily over the years (and it’s something I’m trying not to do in future). So, needless to […]

This week’s /Tuesday Ten comes with a content warning for discussion of depression and suicide.
Bandcamp Friday is back, but this time it feels like a lot of artists were prepared in advance (I’ve certainly not had the usual avalanche of notifications that I usually do). The post, then, is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from […]
A tentative return to regular livestreams – and I should add now that there is no intention to return to livestreaming as much as seven or eight times per month. But the return of /TheKindaMzkYouLike was rather the obvious choice.
These past few weeks have been a bit of a nightmare away from writing about music (my father has been, and still is, very ill in hospital), and perhaps, giving myself a bit of a distraction in writing about music again is what I need.
Back to normal on the Friday posts, then, which has evolved over time but remains, at the core, a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who […]
This is the 200th edition of this post, which has evolved over time but remains, at the core, a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who […]
For the majority of my life, I’ve never really lived in the country. I’ve always been in urban environments, where the nearest green space is a local park, and the only wildlife I got to see were urban birdlife, or urban foxes for the most part.
My /Tuesday Ten series began in March 2007, initially as an attempt to round up the best tracks of each month for my friends, but swiftly gained a life of its own. This post is to provide a list of all of the /Tuesday Ten entries so far, with links to each. A database of […]
A chaotic week means a delayed post today, but there’s still a fair bit to cover. In addition, one terrible piece of music news this week was the death of Mike Wells, the mind behind Gridlock, alongside Mike Cadoo. A genuinely progressive artist who arguably changed the direction of industrial music for many, he has […]
