/Welcome to the Future /253 /Events, Livestreams and New Releases 04-Aug 2023

Another Bandcamp Friday this week. Get buying!

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/Album of the Week

04-Aug 2023 / Skindred / Smile / Official Label Store
Skindred look to be stepping up right now – arena (!) shows coming next year, including headlining Wembley Arena, and their new album is a lot of fun. Indeed, it’s worth it alone for the groovy monster that is Gimme That Boom.

A quite great electro-industrial album from this new (to me!) duo.
28-Jul 2023 / xotox / Ich bin da/ich funktioniere / Poponaut
Twenty-five years of xotox marked with a new album.

The excellent new single from unitcode:machine comes armed with remixes that are just as good as the song itself.

28-Jul 2023 / Various Artists / Come Together: Adventures On The Indie Dancefloor 1989-1992 / Cherry Red Online Store
Two fascinating-looking compilations covering two intriguing indie periods in the UK.

The latest instalment in the lengthy “Black” series by the peerless Mind.in.a.box is coming at last.
06-Oct 2023 / Prong / State of Emergency / Official Label Store
The long-promised new Prong album, apparently seeing a bit of a look back to the sound of Rude Awakening. Sold!
13-Oct 2023 / ††† (Crosses) / Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. / Official Artist Store
Hot on the heels of the excellent PERMANENT.RADIANT EP, the first full-length album from Crosses in nine years.

Everyone’s favourite Satanists return with more remarkably feel-good, dark doo-wop.

/Upcoming EPs/Singles

25-Aug 2023 / Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan / Building A New Town EP / Official Artist Store
Yet another release – the third in the past twelve months – for this prolific, quite elegant electronic artist.

/Upcoming Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

None this week.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.

/amodelofcontrol.com/next week
