Welcome to the Future: 070: Events, gigs and new release round-up 01-February 2019

It’s Friday, therefore time for the usual amodelofcontrol.com round-up of new music coming your way this week and soon, as well as a look at the events and gigs in the future, and finally nods to any other notable news that affects artists and music that I cover here.

Over the past month I’ve run through the best of 2018 in my Countdown series, you can find the links to these posts at the bottom of this post.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – had begun the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes here. The latest episode was released a few months ago (transmission: 012). transmission: 013 will be out as soon as I have the time to rebuild the whole damned thing…

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the new Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”).

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New and Upcoming Releases this week

Up-and-coming electronic stars Boy Harsher release their excellent new album Careful today – their London show later this month has already been upgraded from Electrowerkz to Heaven and is apparently near selling out there too. Then there is the return to releasing music after a significant gap for two artists: Acretongue releases the elegant Ghost Nocturne, and Ladytron’s new self-titled album, out today, is their first in seven years – although it may not be available to stream for a couple more weeks, from what I can tell.

Over on Armalyte, i! return with their first release in a while, in the form of End of Transmission, and Seething Akira have released their Rabbit Junk remixed-single I Am The Devil.

In addition, Keef Baker returns today with his new Nimon album The Slow Atrophy of Hope.

At long last, the WaxTrax! documentary Industrial Accident has a release date: both DVD/Blu-Ray and the Soundtrack are out on 16-April.

Finally, this is well worth a read – a great article about The B-52s.
