/Welcome to the Future /239 /Events, Livestreams and New Releases 24-Feb 2023

Another busy week for releases – and new announcements this week. I’ve also added another swathe of events to the listing, too. Links below.

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/New Albums

21-Feb 2023 / Dark Star / …out flew reason / Bandcamp
Originally meant to be released twenty-two years ago, but buried in label chaos – and some tracks from which have long since been bootlegged – the band that provided the inspiration for this website domain are finally, finally back. And it is still the band that I always loved, that’s for sure.
24-Feb 2023 / BIG|BRAVE / nature morte / Bandcamp
BIG|BRAVE somehow ratchet up the intensity yet further on their bracing new album
24-Feb 2023 / Death Pill / Death Pill / Bandcamp
Ukrainan female hardcore punk trio who have a lot of rage to dish out.
24-Feb 2023 / HOST / IX / Official Band Store
Nick and Greg from Paradise Lost explore their electronic side.
24-Feb 2023 / NAUT / Hunt / Bandcamp
One of the more hotly-tipped post-punk bands for a while, they are at the heavier, muscular end of the sound (and all the better for it)
24-Feb 2023 / NER\OGRIS / I Am the Shadow – I Am the Light / Bandcamp
This turned out not to be what I was perhaps expecting – a few dancefloor bangers but mostly experimental, fascinating electronic excursions.

/New Singles/EPs

14-Feb 2023 / Heriot / Demure / Bandcamp
One of the hottest prospects in UK Metal at the moment deliver another bone-crunching track.
22-Feb 2023 / Une Misère / Misery Lives Forever / Bandcamp
Talking of bone-crunching, Icelandic hardcore band Une Misère have returned with a new singer, and has perhaps got even heavier and nastier (and my god, that breakdown).
24-Feb 2023 / This Is Radio Silence / Disappointed / Bandcamp
In the run-up to their show in London next week, here’s a “lost” track finally released, and it’s a belter.
24-Feb 2023 / Punish Yourself / DEATH GLAM X X I I I / Bandcamp
These wild French industrial punks are back.
24-Feb 2023 / Wanderer / Indulgence of the Unreal / Bandcamp
Vicious Minnesotan death-grind.

/New Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

03-Feb 2023 / The Auteurs / People Round Here Don’t Like To Talk About It – The Complete EMI Recordings / Cherry Red Store
Pretty much everything you needed to hear from the Auteurs and more besides, in one sprawling compilation.

/Upcoming Albums

03-Mar 2023 / Ratio Strain / The B Side of Life/ Bandcamp
Vanessa Saw of W.A.S.T.E. releases their latest solo missive.
25-Mar 2023 / 808 DOT POP / MW720/ Bandcamp
The Metroland side-project continue their retro-electronic explorations.
14-Apr 2023 / Dødheimsgard / Black Medium Current/ Official Label Store
The avant-garde Black Metallers return.
28-Apr 2023 / tunic / Wrong Dream/ Bandcamp
More raging noise-rock from Winnipeg.
12-May 2023 / Cattle Decapitation / Terrasite/ Official Label Store
Tech-death with lots of teeth.

/Upcoming EPs/Singles

03-Mar 2023 / Heavy Feelings / The Prize EP/ Bandcamp
Nadia Garofalo, once of Ganser, has now joined a transatlantic project with very different results.

/Upcoming Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
