Last but one – those just outside the top twenty.
Last but one – those just outside the top twenty.
Following on from the rundown of my top 100 tracks of the decade, it’s now time for my top fifty albums of the decade, which starts today and will be concluded next week (I wanted this done by Whitby and the end of the month).
After a night DJing at Autonomy, my girlfriend couldn’t make the next day, so one of my best friends joined me to head south to Sonisphere instead. I’d declined the recently-won tickets earlier in the week, but much to my surprise they arrived on the Saturday, and the decision was taken that we should go […]
It took bloody ages to get there – two hours from Sheffield to Manchester, via Woodhead, thanks to Snake being closed and awful traffic in Manchester city centre, and I managed my first longer distance drive without any problems – but last night’s gig was worth every single minute and then some.
The 90s were a heyday for industrial metal – let’s be honest, few bands have been able to continue a high quality output of this style into this decade, and fewer more recent bands still have been able to keep the flame alive (with notable exceptions being the likes of Interlock and Cyanotic). With it being Easter this weekend, I thought it perhaps apt that I turn to the subject of religion for this week’s TT. Although not unexpected, perhaps, with the music that I listen to, it proved somewhat difficult to find that many songs that cast religion in a positive light. Still, I did find the […]
A bit later than normal, but here are my "tracks of the month" for this month. The next one of these will now be at the start of March.
I’ve held this over from last week, which perhaps would have been a better time for it…but never mind. Songs about politics and all relating to it are an age-old idea, but still even after all these years one with legs. And after a quick scan of my collection suggested loads and loads for this, […]
Like many others, I while away the odd evening watching some of the music channels on cable. And sometimes, there is even something good on. And a look at the playlist pages may make you weep if you are looking for something different. Kerrang TV‘s playlist has vanished (leaving a blank page – perhaps they […]
Somehow it feels like the stars are out of line, or something. A new NIN album, after just two years? Usually the wait is nearer five.
So here we are into another month (May already, wtf?), and so it’s time for my now semi-monthly rundown of tracks that I love right now.
No order for these, as it has been something of a top year for gigs and trying to pick the best one has been impossible…
On a hot and sticky night like last night, the Manchester Apollo is not among the list of places that I would rather normally be. But hey, this is different. I’ve waited too long, been jinxed too many times.
