Some artists never sit still, and continue to innovate, moving their sound forward by involvement in new projects and new concepts.

Nearly five years ago, I stumbled across a fascinating live electronic act opening the Saturday afternoon at BIMFest in Antwerp.
Here at amodelofcontrol.com I’ve come to appreciate over the years that interviewing bands – I prefer e-mail than to be transcribing Skype interviews, partly as trying to schedule them is very difficult indeed too! – can often tell me (and of course my readers) so much more than just a review. After all, I’m only […]
One of the more surprising – and great – returns last year was the return of Raymond Watts’ long-running project <PIG>. After a US tour last year, that I caught at Cold Waves in Chicago, the first <PIG> UK dates in years were announced recently. So I thought it the right time to catch up […]
Of the many bands I saw at Cold Waves in September, one that left a particularly lasting impression was KANGA. With her new album released in the past week, I thought it a good time to catch up with her on e-mail to discuss that, her live performance and a few other things.
I’ve bemoaned the relative lack of political bands over recent years, but there are still such bands out there, with something to say. One such band is Syd.31, led by Jason Pearson, and they recently put a new single out that was featured prominently by Louder Than War.
As I begin to consider the best of the year, and wrap up 2016, it has been a good opportunity to catch up with a few artists and discuss how 2016 has been for them.
Eighteen months ago, I spoke with Marc Heal to discuss his new book, and his past in Cubanate, and ended up getting the confirmation that Cubanate were returning after all.
About a year ago, I spoke with Michael Holloway of Dead When I Found Her, to get an insight into his thinking around industrial music and the dense, complex soundscapes that he creates. The album All The Way Down ended up being the amodelofcontrol Best Album for 2015 (to follow Rag Doll Blues getting the […]
The wonders of the internet mean that it is now possible to discover bands from afar, and talk and enthuse about said bands without (always) having to spend considerable sums of money travelling to see them or purchase their music. Now, things are much easier, but there is perhaps more to sift through first.
For the latest interview on amodelofcontrol.com, Athan Maroulis – nowadays performing under the NOIR name – kindly gave up his time to discuss his current project and his musical past.
Time for another interview on amodelofcontrol.com, and this time I’m talking to a band who’ve somewhat unexpectedly reformed. There have been an awful lot of reunions of late, particularly of bands from the nineties, and frankly some have not been particularly worthwhile returning.
Brant Showers is a busy man right now. Touring with one band, working on new material for his main act, and just this week putting out a debut album under his solo moniker.
For the first interview of 2016 on amodelofcontrol.com, I caught up with Stefan Poiss of Mind.in.a.box and THYX, to talk about both bands, his influences and thoughts on the scene his bands have become part of.
Time for one last interview before I complete the end-of-year postings, and it’s a second appearance on amodelofcontrol.com this year for Matt Fanale, this time wearing the often less-than-serious Caustic hat.
For the latest in my series of interviews, I turn my attention closer to home to talk to an artist who has been making waves in the industrial scene for some years now.
Another interview this week – all coming at once, eh? This time, with a project from two veterans of the industrial scene, who burst out last year to great acclaim, and return very soon with a second album. That band is Cocksure, whose members have a long and storied history in the scene – Jason […]
The latest interview on amodelofcontrol.com takes things in a different direction. Where industrial electronics meets world events, and musical ideas are shared.
For the latest in my series of interviews with artists I’ve been writing about in the last few years, I’m ecstatic to be able to bring you what became a lengthy and fascinating exchange with an artist I’ve been writing about for a good few years, since his debut arrived, and is about to release […]
Welcome to a different world. Sometimes I’m not a particular fan of side-projects, mainly as in my view they often detract from the main event – but here, with Beauty Queen Autopsy, this is some way away from what Matt Fanale (of Caustic) and Erica Mulkey (of Unwoman) might do on their own. A trip […]
