It’s Friday, therefore time for the usual amodelofcontrol.com round-up of new music coming your way this week and soon, as well as a look at the events and gigs in the future, and finally nods to any other notable news that affects artists and music that I cover here.

/This Week/New Releases
An interesting and varied week for new releases.
The one I’ve perhaps been waiting for this summer is Marika Hackman’s new album Any Human Friend. I adored her last album I’m Not Your Man, and on first listen, this at-points viciously frank album is easily as good.
Elsewhere, Velvet Acid Christ returns with the very good Ora Oblivionis, electro-industrial band Interface are back with Where All Roads Lead, and Slipknot return with their sixth album We Are Not Your Kind.
/This Week/Upcoming Releases
Some really interesting release announcements this week.
Stephen Mallinder is releasing his first solo album in thirty-five years in October (Um Dada). Another long-awaited release finally appeared this week, in the form of new music from ∆AIMON for the first time in some years. It’s a cassette-only release for the moment, but DEVOTE//DEVOUR will be available digitally at the end of the month, and I can’t wait to hear it.
Now reduced to a two-piece, BATTLES have returned with the energetic, fabulous Titanium 2 Step, and new album Juice B Crypts is out in October. In a very different realm, industrial-fetish group (and an excoriating presence live) Spit Mask have their new album You May Feel Some Pressure (the album cover may not be worksafe for many!) out soon too. Then, there’s a new Die Krupps album coming in October, and as well as their conventional show crossing Europe afterward, there’s an all-electro set at BIMFest in December.
Fad Gadget’s best-of is getting a pretty-looking vinyl reissue, and here we go again with milking the Jeff Buckley legacy, as the still-glorious Grace turns 25.
Finally, I still can’t honestly work out if Mute are taking the piss or not with their 4’33” compilation…
