/Welcome to the Future /216 /Events, Livestreams and new releases 17-Jun 2022

A sweltering week, and here’s this week’s new music to hopefully distract you a bit.

Anyway. This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Album of the Week
17-Jun 2022 / Nova Twins / Supernova /Official Artist Store
One of the buzz bands of the moment, this duo’s second album is great fun – powerful rock, a smattering of electronics, and the odd nod to nu-metal, while making it clear that multi-racial women can of course rock just as hard as white men…

14-Jun 2022 / deux furieuses / Bring Down The Government (single) /Bandcamp
deux furieuses begin their third album cycle with an appropriately furious track about current UK events…
17-Jun 2022 / Gozer / An Endless Static /Bandcamp
Sheffield post-metallers with their debut album.
17-Jun 2022 / Blackcarburning / All About You EP /Bandcamp
Mark Hockings of Mesh returns with a new EP from his solo project.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week

29-Jul 2022 / Black Magnet / Body Prophecy /Bandcamp
It seems to have been trailed forever, but the second Black Magnet album is finally coming at the end of July, and lead track Floating In Nothing picks up from where the outstanding Hallucination Scene left off – mechanised industrial metal that kicks really fucking hard.
19-Aug 2022 / Russian Circles / Gnosis /Bandcamp
Chicago post-metal trio Russian Circles – long a favourite of this site – return with their first new material since before lockdown, and going on the thunderous groove of Conduit, we’re in for a treat.
09-Sep 2022 / Preoccupations / Arrangements /Bandcamp
These ever-intriguing post-punkers with their new album.
23-Sep 2022 / Editors / EBM /Official Artist Store
A most surprising announcement that I’d perhaps missed previously was that Benjamin John Power (Fuck Buttons, Blanck Mass) has joined Editors as a full-time member. If the thrilling electronic pulse of Karma Climb is any evidence, I’m now intrigued to hear what else is coming.
23-Sep 2022 / KEN Mode / Null /Bandcamp
Brutal, nasty no-wave/noise-rock? Sign me the fuck up.
23-Sep 2022 / The Soft Moon / Exister /Bandcamp
The screaming intensity of The Soft Moon has long been popular on the /amodelofcontrol.com stereo, so a new album is very welcome – and while the album is promised to have quite the variation, Him (featuring fish narc) very much sounds like what I’d expect from Luis Vasquez: propulsive, dense and powerful post-punk that has a very distinct texture.
07-Oct 2022 / Lamb of God / Omens /Bandcamp
Now, remarkably, well into their third decade as one of the best metal bands around, it looks like they are nowhere near letting up. Nevermore, the first track from Omens, does everything the band does so well, and perhaps leans back a bit to the raw fury of their earlier material (to the complaints of absolutely no-one).

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
