This is the 200th edition of this post, which has evolved over time but remains, at the core, a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.
Here is that usual wrap of new music and suchlike this week.
/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!
If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).
/Releases out today or recently
/Upcoming releases announced this week
Another few releases to catch up on, as well as today’s releases and a few new singles too.
31-Dec 2021 / Null Cell / Nemesis /Bandcamp
A fascinating amalgam of industrial, bass, machine rock, this requires further listening.
01-Jan 2022 / The Rorschach Garden / Enigma /Bandcamp
Philipp Münch continues his prolific work with a new Rorschach Garden release (and it’s great, too).
14-Jan 2022 / Toundra / Hex /Official Artist Store
Dramatic, soaring post-rock from Spain that’s new to me, but I already love it.
21-Jan 2022 / Boris / W /Bandcamp
Boris take another turn with a distinctly dreamy, mellowed out album.
21-Jan 2022 / Boy Harsher / The Runner (Original Soundtrack) /Bandcamp
The much-anticipated new Boy Harsher album is a soundtrack to a short horror film they’ve made – the previewed tracks have all been amazing, mind.
21-Jan 2022 / Gilmore Trail / Impermanence /Bandcamp
The third album from Sheffield post-rock band Gilmore Trail is their first in six years, and is quite glorious.
21-Jan 2022 / M‡яc∆ll∆ / New Condition /Bandcamp
The mysterious M‡яc∆ll∆ return, as they continue to evolve their sound.
17-Jan 2022 / MATT HART / DECIMATE /Bandcamp
The latest single from MATT HART’s upcoming album.
20-Jan 2022 / Ho99o9 / BATTERY NOT INCLUDED /YouTube
Also in advance of their upcoming new album, Ho99o9’s new single is ferocious.
21-Jan 2022 / Stabbing Westward / Ghost /Bandcamp
The second single from Chasing Ghosts (see below) is more of Stabbing Westward back to doing what they do best – dramatic industrial rock.
11-Feb 2022 / The Crystal Method / The Trip Out /Streaming Links
Oddly, there appears to be no physical (or download) links for the new Crystal Method album yet.
25-Feb 2022 / Caroline / Caroline /Bandcamp
Pastoral, gentle post-rock with an equally subtle political edge.
11-Mar 2022 / GHOST / Impera /Bandcamp
The never-subtle GHOST return, doing what they do.
11-Mar 2022 / Shadow Universe / Subtle Realms, Subtle Worlds /Bandcamp
Gorgeous swells of post-rock from Slovenia.
18-Mar 2022 / Dawn of Ashes / Scars of the Broken /Bandcamp
The new album from these industrial/black metallers
18-Mar 2022 / Stabbing Westward / Chasing Ghosts /Bandcamp
The first new album from Stabbing Westward in a very long time.
19-Mar 2022 / M W W B / The Harvest /Bandcamp
The Space-Doom Lords (and Lady) return at last.
25-Mar 2022 / Tindersticks / Past Imperfect – The Best of Tindersticks ’92-’21 /City Slang Store
Thirty years of Tindersticks is celebrated by a twenty-track best-of, with, to my eyes, some interesting omissions from the tracklisting.
25-Mar 2022 / VR SEX / Rough Dimension /Bandcamp
Andrew Clinco’s other project away from Drab Majesty continues the striking visuals and harsher sound.
01-Apr 2022 / Meshuggah / Immutable /Bandcamp
Just a thirty-nine second teaser exists so far, but it has the sound of a gathering, polyrhythmic storm.
08-Apr 2022 / Nik Colk Void / Bucked Up Space /Bandcamp
Remarkably the first solo album from the member of Factory Floor and Carter Tutti Void.
15-Apr 2022 / Darkher / The Buried Storm /Bandcamp
New generation Northern Doom from the ever-excellent Darkher.
Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.
/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.
If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
