Yes. A word that can be affirmation, confirmation, or exclamation.

In a happy coincidence, my /Tuesday Ten series reaches post number 500 on my birthday: and having checked back, I’ve never posted a /Tuesday Ten on my birthday.
My feelings on the Monarchy and “celebrations” like this weekend just past are well known, so I decided to avoid any posts on the subject this time around. Instead, I got thinking the other week about songs about excitement, and things that might thrill me instead.
This week, what started out as a quick round-up of the best music I was listening to at the time (not necessarily new music initially), thanks to a request from another user on Livejournal, reaches fifteen years of posts.
There are times when I ask questions for this long-running series that turn out, well, differently to how I might have expected, and this is one of those times.
Welcome to the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2020, which begins this week. Over this and the next two Tuesdays, I’ll be rounding up the best music of the year in various categories. In coming weeks there will be the wrap of the best tracks and the best albums.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve looked at songs about clothing and shoes, and now I turn my attention to hair (and to a lesser extent, hats). The simple act of a haircut can drastically change an appearance, as can the wearing of a hat, of course. /Tuesday Ten/432 /The World Was A Mess […]
We keep going amid the lockdown. There are new releases, and still, new music coming through, and buying music right now is the only way we can help. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.

It’s long been clear that many musical artists are, frankly, narcissists. I mean, why else would they want to be onstage, opening themselves up to what could be a worldwide audience one day? So it maybe comes as no real surprise to find that there are a lot of songs where they are talking (or […]
Given names pop up an awful lot in popular music. They provide subjects of songs, refer to current or past loves, refer to normal or famous people, or have another use entirely – in Slint’s case, their debut album Tweez has song-titles of various family members of the band – oh, and a dog – […]
Sunday night saw two notable Prince events – one was the tribute to him at the Grammys by The Time and Bruno Mars (the latter increasingly proving he is the best tribute act in town), the other being that – at long last – a vast amount of Prince’s back-catalogue is now on all of […]
Colour. It is perhaps not an obvious subject for this series – being mainly a visual concept – but even descriptions or themes of colour can be exceptionally evocative, as a number of the entries are here.
I actually started this 80s rundown a couple of years back, but life and other things have rather got in the way. So, a little bit of spare time has allowed me to get this finished. Without further ado, then, let’s get on with it.
The television appearance is an important part of the promotional armoury. Not a video (I’ve covered these in various posts before), but simply a live* rendition of a current song that maybe gets a band out to an audience that otherwise might not know about them. I’ve also excluded TV-aired festival appearances, too. One thing, […]
Following last week’s awesome fun of submissions from many of my readers and friends, I thought I probably ought to suggest my own to this. So this is a postscript, of sorts, offering five albums that I celebrate as being my idea of perfect albums. I’ve been careful to ensure that I haven’t repeated any […]
After taking a bit of a break from these series of Tuesday Tens based upon (quite random) subjects – I think I needed to to allow me to come up with some new ideas – I seem to have hit upon some inspiration for future lists again, so expect these to be a little more […]
It has been a long time, er, coming, this. I’d say excuse the pun, but you know I don’t mean that. Anyway, I first started working on this a few months ago, and here it is at last.
It won’t have escaped anyone’s attention in the UK at least that there is a wedding of two privileged people this Friday that will take place in front of a worldwide audience, shutting down the normal workings of much of central London for the day – and indeed the rest of the country as an […]
I was a little surprised, I have to admit, when I realised just how many songs my partner and I could think of that reference, are tenuously linked to, or are actually about this week’s subject. So, what am I on about this week? Food and drink. That is, the non-alcoholic variety (I’ve covered alcohol […]
