/Tuesday Ten /566 /Midlife Crisis
I turned forty-six last month, so I’m likely now in the right place for a midlife crisis.

As 2023 draws to its end – and it’s been a year, I can tell you – this will be the last /Tuesday Ten of the year.
The USA has inspired polarisation of opinion for as long as I can remember from the other side of the Atlantic (and elsewhere), as policy decisions made in the USA often affect the rest of the world – for better or worse.
Fancy a brew? The nights are drawing in, it’s getting cooler, and thus hot drinks become the desired thing for many on more occasions. That said, I drink tea regardless of the time of year.
This was one of the first suggestion threads where many of the responses really frustrated me. What is a landmark? Let’s check the definition of a landmark: /Tuesday Ten/462/A Time and a Place [cardoza_facebook_like_box] /Tuesday Ten/Playlists /Playlists/Spotify /Playlists/YouTube /Tuesday Ten/On Location /065/Places /082/Life In The City /135/A Night On The Town /212/Chicago /247/London /275/First We […]
For the last regular /Tuesday Ten of 2020 – the first year where I’ve posted a new /Tuesday Ten every week from the first Tuesday in January to the last Tuesday in November since I started this series in March 2007 – I’m once again digging into my list of as-yet unused suggestion threads, for […]
Around this time most years, I’ve ended up with political-related posts in my /Tuesday Ten series. But, tired of elections, frankly – even if, as it stands, it looks like the US Election has had more of a positive result than perhaps we had feared, at least with Trump on his way out – I […]
Not for the first time, today I’m digging back into my original notes for a new /Tuesday Ten. I’ve actually been planning to write about this for years but hadn’t had the inspiration or the songs for it, until I finally dug it out of the “to do” pile and offered it out to my […]
I passed seven years working for the same employer recently (by some considerable distance the longest I’ve worked for one company in the two decades that I’ve had jobs), and while things haven’t always been plain sailing, currently I’ve got the kind of role I wanted.
A good few weeks ago, I was listening to an album and my thoughts came to the idea of songs about winning. But, then, I thought, what about losing? And after I asked for more suggestions from my ever-helpful friends on Facebook, it transpired that I had enough songs for winning, losing and gambling, too.
Over last year – to mark twenty years since I began writing about music – I ran a series of posts looking at the music I was buying and listening to in 1996 (and that was released that year), partly to jog my memory and partly to dig into my formative musical influences a bit, […]
Yeah, so I’ve kinda looked at this before (see box links), but I’ve never actually delved into songs about the city that is my home. And with it being six years last month since Daisy and I moved to Finsbury Park in North London (Daisy moving to London for the first time, me returning after […]
I’ve looked at this kind of thing before, but from a different viewpoint (/024/Changing Direction), where bands changed direction decisively for what they would likely protest is “artistic reasons”. I’m taking a different tack this week, and it is inspired by a few things (like many of these posts, they are frequently in the works […]
A very British habit – and one of the cliched views of the British from around the world – is, apparently, to talk about the weather incessantly. I’ve never been sure why, but I guess with a changeable climate, the seemingly never-ending threat of rain (well, at least until the last few years, where dry […]
It’s been a week of numbers. What with Daisy and mine’s sixth anniversary, yesterday being a year of me being in my current job, and at least two 40th birthdays in the past week – not to mention Daisy’s Grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary in three weeks time, and with nuclear fears in the news again […]
I was a little surprised, I have to admit, when I realised just how many songs my partner and I could think of that reference, are tenuously linked to, or are actually about this week’s subject. So, what am I on about this week? Food and drink. That is, the non-alcoholic variety (I’ve covered alcohol […]
For this week’s Tuesday Ten, I’m going back to a list I’ve had on the back burner for bloody ages. That is, music on TV in the form of advertising. Always a contentious subject – there are probably just as many artists who flatly refuse to sell their music for use in this way as […]
Following on from Tuesday, here's part two of my 90s albums rundown. This is fun, even if a little time consuming – and it's reminding me of songs I've not heard in a while, in some cases. As per Tuesday, there is a Spotify playlist accompaniment once again, with no omissions this time.
The fifth instalment of this lengthy rundown.
