Onto the third week of /Countdown/2025 on amodelofcontrol.com, and this week I’m looking at the best albums of the year. As I’m sure I’ve explained before, I treat the “year” as 01-December to 30-November, to allow me a cut-off point, and to allow this to be done and dusted before Christmas so that I can […]
A break in what has been a hot summer this week, with lots of rain and a general sense, for a short while, of nothing much going on. This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, […]
It’s been a funny time in music and entertainment recently, with hysteria around political pronouncements at major events by bands that we’d expect to do so (and thus providing a distraction from the horrors of Gaza in particular), as well as the anti-Trans bullshit that is still being peddled, and a general feeling that it […]
Another roundup of the best new music recently released or announced. This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music […]
Another Bandcamp Friday, another overflowing inbox… This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up […]
2025 sees /amodelofcontrol.com enter 21 years active, and this coming summer, I will mark thirty years since the first gig that I attended. Life has been busy of late, and a slightly longer Christmas break from writing was much-needed.
Continuing the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2023 – and the twentieth year that I’ve done this – which this week turns attention to the best tracks of the year. Next week will be the wrap of the best albums of 2023.
The final /Tracks of the Month of 2023 – or more to the point, the last before I unleash /Countdown /2023, wrapping up the best music of the year.
Call it a bit of a summer break, but this is the first three-week gap between /Tuesday Ten posts in a long time – life has been busy.

The end of July (already!), and here’s this week’s new release roundup. Anyway. This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me […]
A week that has brought yet more appalling news from the US and elsewhere, and it’s all feeling a bit grim really, isn’t it?
A sweltering week, and here’s this week’s new music to hopefully distract you a bit.
Into 2022 and the cold, grey January, and on the first Friday of 2022, it is time for my traditional round-up of what we know about (relevant) new music coming your way in 2022. What do I mean by relevant? Broadly, that means music I might cover here, which to be honest, these days, covers […]
A new year, and a new look for my posts on /amodelofcontrol.com, for the most part, a case of tidying up things and getting a cleaner style.
Onto the third and final week of /Countdown/2020 on amodelofcontrol.com, and this week I’m looking at the best albums of the year. As I’m sure I’ve explained before, I treat the “year” as 01-December to 30-November, to allow me a cut-off point, and to allow this to be done and dusted before Christmas so that […]
Continuing the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2020, which this week turns attention to the best tracks of the year. Next week will be the wrap of the best albums of 2020.
We keep going amid the lockdown. There are new releases, and still, new music coming through, and buying music right now is the only way we can help. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
