/Tuesday Ten /558 /Tracks of the Month /May 2024
It’s been another busy old month, with a lot to do, a lot of music to catch up on, and in the end having to hold over a few songs as I simply ran out of time to write about any more.

This week’s wrap of new and upcoming music… This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps […]
2024 has started quickly with a whole host of release announcements, new songs and a variety of surprising tours coming up: so unsurprisingly, I’ve got a lot of tracks to cover with twenty featured (again) this month.
Life is exceptionally busy right now (moving house this weekend, in fact), so this is the first chance I’ve had to do one of these round-ups in a few weeks. In the meantime, /amodelofcontrol.com turned twenty… This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events […]
Onto the third and final week of /Countdown/2021 on amodelofcontrol.com, and this week I’m looking at the best albums of the year. As I’m sure I’ve explained before, I treat the “year” as 01-December to 30-November, to allow me a cut-off point, and to allow this to be done and dusted before Christmas so that […]
Continuing the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2021, which this week turns attention to the best tracks of the year. Next week will be the wrap of the best albums of 2021.
Bandcamp day again already, and yet again, there’s another big list of releases. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day for now, still, so I continue to wrap up […]
Nearly out of another lockdown – and back into Tiers – and this weekly release and events roundup keeps on going. There is still new music to enjoy, hence why I continue these Friday posts. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
We keep going amid the lockdown. There are new releases, and still, new music coming through, and buying music right now is the only way we can help. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
This has been an unusual one, that I’ve tried to write a few times and shelved. Sometimes you have inspiration, sometimes…you don’t. So I left it for a few months, and returned to it last week to pick up the thread again, and this time? It worked out, so here are ten songs about spying […]
There is a good reason why it has taken 347 editions of my Tuesday Ten series to get ’round to doing my favourite opening tracks – mainly because I didn’t want to come across all Rob Gordon and Barry Judd in High Fidelity.
I passed seven years working for the same employer recently (by some considerable distance the longest I’ve worked for one company in the two decades that I’ve had jobs), and while things haven’t always been plain sailing, currently I’ve got the kind of role I wanted.
This has been a quiet year.
Yesterday marked fifteen years since I began my career working in Mobile Telecoms. Back in February 2001, things were very different in my life. I was recovering from a nasty accident (I shattered my ankle after being hit by a car late in 2000), on crutches, and hobbled into a new job with what was […]
I got wind over the weekend that the bar that I ran tcf in for five years is closing – initially it sounded like it was for good, but instead it’s apparently for a refurb that will see The Nelson in Sheffield close for eight weeks. So it feels like an appropriate time to look at songs […]
Ok, so I did Bad Romance last year, but here’s another list for Valentines Day – this time dealing with being dumped. It’s been a good many years since it happened to me, and I really rather hope it stays that way.
This week, I’m looking at being betrayed. It’s all thanks to one of these songs coming up on my iPod the other day and getting my mind thinking. It wasn’t hard to find ten songs, either.
Part eight, and we’re nearly there.
Driving down to Cambridge on a warm summer’s day last Sunday got Daisy and I thinking about songs that we associate with the summer. Certainly, there are some songs that simply “work” better, or suit my mood more, when the sun is shining (and likewise similar happens with other songs during the winter).
