We keep going amid the lockdown. There are new releases, and still, new music coming through, and buying music right now is the only way we can help. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
Continuing the process of wrapping up the last decade before it disappears too far into the rearview mirror, this is the sixth part of the best tracks of the 2010s. This has been an interesting, and memory-laden trip doing this list. I’ve dredged up a few memories, reconnected with a few songs I’d not heard […]
Just over two years ago, I asked for suggestions around songs involving the senses. Needless to say, this ended up being a gargantuan thread, with the easy decision made to split it out. /Tuesday Ten/412 /Senses Working Overtime/Smell /Playlists /Playlists/Spotify /Playlists/YouTube /Tuesday Ten/Lockdown /401/Isolation /402/Pumping Iron /405/No Good Advice /406/Warning! /408/Conspiracy /409/Lazy /410/Senses/Taste So, this […]

I have to admit that it has been a while since I had last thought about Brainclaw before 2020. They have jolted back into my view thanks to the sad news that former member Tara Lessard passed away over Christmas, and that appeared to, finally, spur David Giuffre into finishing the long-promised album that I […]
The events of the past couple of weeks have been well-documented everywhere, and I don’t wish to add my own cutting analysis of that – and nor am I in a position to – but it has created an environment of soul-searching, particularly in the music and entertainment industry, and those issues raised go way […]

This post was held over from yesterday, as /amodelofcontrol.com observed #theshowmustbepaused (and made a few small contributions to help to try and make a better future). The world might be going to hell in about a million different ways, but I’m still writing. It is my outlet right now, a way of getting a ton […]

The current lockdown has stopped the entertainment industry – at least in terms of physical venues – dead in its tracks, but I guess one of the benefits of the internet age is that we can do things online instead. Thus, after some years of talking about it – and struggling to find a venue […]

So, after years of considering whether to bring Stormblast back in one form or another […]

This has been an interesting, and memory-laden trip doing this list. I’ve dredged up a few memories, reconnected with a few songs I’d not heard […]
Picking the bands to talk to in this series is a strange business. Some publicity people offer me interviews as part of the general promo process – and they are often surprising bands that I might not have expected to be able to interview in the first place (this is only a small corner of […]

There is, perhaps understandably, a desire for many to take things easy right now. Aside from work, what else is there to do? We can’t really go out and socialise, go for a drink, go to a gig, go to the cinema, and so on, so evenings have become pretty sedentary.
