/Welcome to the Future/163/Livestreams and new releases 19-Feb 2021

A quieter week this week, with a more “usual” list of new releases and upcoming announcements (the last couple of weeks have taken hours to compile!). In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day for now, still, so I continue to wrap up both.

Also, if you missed them, read my roundup of 2020 in the form of /Countdown/2020. /Countdown/2020/Albums, /Countdown/2020/Tracks, and /Countdown/2020/Compilations and Re-issues.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently
Mogwai / As The Love Continues /Bandcamp
Pretty much twenty-five years to the day since their first release, Mogwai continue their post-rock-and-much-more exploration.
Cevin Key / Resonance /Bandcamp
Skinny Puppy member Key continues his even stranger solo work with a new album.
The Amenta / Revelator /Bandcamp
This Australian industrial-black metal band return with their first new material in a little while.
Tindersticks / Distractions /Bandcamp
A surprisingly short new release from Tindersticks, just seven songs and with a few covers included – but it’s still recognisably them.
Senyawa / Alkisah /Bandcamp
I was fascinated by the lead track from this last month, but it turns out the release of this is even more interesting – 44 different labels worldwide, over 200 remixes, and what could be a licensing nightmare. The album itself is an avant-garde, chaotic marvel.
Blac Kolor / New Leader /Bandcamp
The last Blac Kolor album was brilliant, so I have high hopes for this new single.
Trepaneringsritualen / Kainskult Remixed /Bandcamp
Kainskult was an excellent album, so remixed takes on the tracks should be interesting.
Hatari / Neyslutrans RemiXed /Bandcamp
A very “our thing” set of remixers on this album from the Icelandic electro group.

/Upcoming releases announced this week
12-Mar 2021 / SØLVE / NEVER + ENOUGH /Bandcamp
A strong-looking remix album from Brant Showers’ ever-fascinating project.
02-Apr 2021 / Black Asteroid / Dust /Bandcamp
Fierce, stark industrial techno from Black Asteroid? Sign me up.
30-Apr 2021 / Gojira / Fortitude /Roadrunner Store
The French metal titans return at last. New single Born For One Thing is excellent.
30-Apr 2021 / Domkraft / Seeds /Bandcamp
Swedish psych-doom, which, as pointed out in the chat on the /Stormblast stream last night, has some distinct influences from industrial in the dense mix.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events
Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars.

If you have updates or relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
