/DJ/Rivet/013 – 08-Jan 2021
After some years of talking about it – and struggling to find a venue – Andy and I decided finally to bring /Rivet back in 2020, and in 2021, we’re back as long as lockdown allows.

2021 has picked up where 2020 left off, but despite the lockdown and everything else, there is still a lot of music to come your way this year. And as is traditional at the beginning of the year, /amodelofcontrol.com attempts to round-up the new music that we’re aware of, that’s due to be released this […]
That was a frustrating start to Livestreams in 2021. The platform had some unexpected issues after 21:00, which for the first time meant that I cut short the scheduled set, and thus missed out on a few things I was saving until later. Oh well, it happens.
My longstanding policy of cutting off my best-of-year considerations at 30-Nov each year does, admittedly, leave me in the position of potentially missing out on important releases in December. But, I have to cut-off somewhere, and stopping at the end of November at least gives me a chance to write my end-of-year lists (they take […]
The Chaos Emergency Doof Broadcast Network, run by Lee Chaos and DJ Duracell Bunny, has been an enjoyable corner of madness every week – and occasionally at weekends, too – across 2020, and perhaps unsurprisingly, another big event came about for New Year’s Eve.
As we continue in this strange new world, home-based entertainment is now the thing. So, I guess one of the benefits of the internet age is that we can do things online instead. This has allowed me to experiment a bit
This bizarre, weird year is nearly over – and this weekly release and events roundup has one more post this year. New music has almost dried up for the year, but the events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now. Thanks for reading this […]
Thus ends /Stormblast for 2020. The resurrection of my old Sheffield-based extreme metal night at the beginning of lockdown in the Spring turned out to be a popular move, and much of the old community has been joined by a new community, and it’s been a lot of fun. I’ve returned to old music, and […]
Onto the third and final week of /Countdown/2020 on amodelofcontrol.com, and this week I’m looking at the best albums of the year. As I’m sure I’ve explained before, I treat the “year” as 01-December to 30-November, to allow me a cut-off point, and to allow this to be done and dusted before Christmas so that […]
Into the last month of this bizarre, weird year – and this weekly release and events roundup keeps on going. There is still new music to enjoy, hence why I continue these Friday posts. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
Continuing the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2020, which this week turns attention to the best tracks of the year. Next week will be the wrap of the best albums of 2020.

Welcome to the amodelofcontrol.com review of 2020, which begins this week. Over this and the next two Tuesdays, I’ll be rounding up the best music of the year in various categories. In coming weeks there will be the wrap of the best tracks and the best albums.
The current lockdown has stopped the entertainment industry – at least in terms of physical venues – dead in its tracks, but I guess one of the benefits of the internet age is that we can do things online instead. Thus, after some years of talking about it – and struggling to find a venue […]
Nearly out of another lockdown – and back into Tiers – and this weekly release and events roundup keeps on going. There is still new music to enjoy, hence why I continue these Friday posts. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now.
Back in lockdown, /Stormblast continues online as before. The resurrection of my old Sheffield-based extreme metal night at the beginning of lockdown in the Spring turned out to be a popular move, and much of the old community has been joined by a new community, and it’s been a lot of fun. So, we keep […]
For the last regular /Tuesday Ten of 2020 – the first year where I’ve posted a new /Tuesday Ten every week from the first Tuesday in January to the last Tuesday in November since I started this series in March 2007 – I’m once again digging into my list of as-yet unused suggestion threads, for […]
Back into lockdown, and this weekly release and events roundup keeps on going. There is still new music to enjoy, hence why I continue these Friday posts, and indeed I’m now deep in the process of working out the best music of the year. The events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful […]
