/Welcome to the Future/166/Livestreams and new releases 12-Mar 2021

Another busy week of new music and upcoming announcements – not to mention lots of choice on the Livestream front, too. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day, for now, still, so I continue to wrap up both.

Also, if you missed them, read my roundup of 2020 in the form of /Countdown/2020. /Countdown/2020/Albums, /Countdown/2020/Tracks, and /Countdown/2020/Compilations and Re-issues.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently
God Is An Astronaut / Ghost Tapes #10 /Bandcamp
I totally missed this one last month, until my friend Kenneth mentioned it this week. As is usual with GiaA, it is high-quality post-rock, with the usual electronic touches.
Drumcorps / Better Days /Bandcamp
New Drumcorps? Right on it (a week late).
Eyehategod / A History of Nomadic Behaviour /Bandcamp
The sludge lords return.
Rob Zombie / The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy /Bandcamp
More psychedelic metal madness from Rob Zombie. He says it’s his best solo album yet…
SØLVE / NEVER + ENOUGH /Bandcamp
Brant Showers returns to his SØLVE project with a strong remix album.
The Anchoress / The Art of Losing /Bandcamp
The Anchoress returns, after delays and trauma, with an album that has had rapturous coverage in the press this week, and I can’t wait to hear it later today.
Autarkh / Form In Motion /Bandcamp
Savage industrial-tinged extreme metal from this new Dutch band (featuring a previous member of DODECAHEDRON).

/Upcoming releases announced this week
19-Mar-21 / Ruby / Salt Peter (25th Anniversary rebuild) /Bandcamp
The long-awaited vinyl reissue of the still-extraordinary Salt Peter. That said, keep an eye on the Ruby Facebook Page as Lesley Rankine has had some issues with the release (in terms of selling it – the production is fine!).
02-Apr-21 / Various Artists / Bills & Aches & Blues /Bandcamp
A fascinating-looking 4AD compilation, where artists from the label cover labelmates.
07-May-21 / After Daylight / Waves of Destruction /Bandcamp
A glorious post-rock album from a Nottingham band that were new to me. Went down well on the /Breadcrumb Trail Livestream this week.
01-Jun-21 / Odonis Odonis / Spectrums /Bandcamp
More glowering, shadowy industrial from this excellent Toronto band (the first single is fantastic).
02-Jun-21 / Ghost Twin / Love Songs For End Times /Bandcamp
I rather loved their last album, so more dreamy industrial/trip-hop is very welcome.
02-Jun-21 / Reptilicus & The Hafler Trio / Designer Time /Bandcamp
Believe this is a reissue from the Icelandic industrial-techno-electronic artists.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events
Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.

/Tuesday Ten/447 will come next week, as well as a couple of new interviews if I have the time to transcribe them. Life is really busy at the moment so finding the time to write more is difficult.

The upcoming livestreams from /amodelofcontrol.com can always be found here, too.
