It’s Friday, therefore time for the usual amodelofcontrol.com round-up of new music coming your way this week and soon, as well as a look at the events and gigs in the future, and finally nods to any other notable news that affects artists and music that I cover here.

/This Week/New Releases
Having taken a week off last week, there’s a fair bit to catch up on.
Out last week were: the astounding, intense power of LINGUA IGNOTA’s CALIGULA, Saul Williams returned with Encrypted & Vulnerable, and The Flaming Lips have edged back to what might be called their “normal” on King’s Mouth. This week sees two albums I’ve been waiting for, in the synth-led melodic pop of Body of Light, with their new album Time to Kill, and Icelandic indie band Of Monsters and Men return after a few years with third album Fever Dream.
Also out this week is a notable reissue – a twentieth anniversary (!) remaster of Velvet Acid Christ’s breakthrough – and best – album Fun With Knives.
/This Week/Upcoming Releases
The ever-intriguing Cold In Berlin, a band who’ve evolved their sound substantially since their early days – have moved to a new label and release their fourth album Rituals of Surrender on 11-Oct, and I’ll be talking about lead single The Power next week. Out on the same date is a new album from Null Device, Line of Sight. Rather sooner, Nature of Wires release Modus on 16-Aug.
The forbidding ritual fury of Trepaneringsritualen gets a new chapter on 09-Sep, with the release of ᛉᛦ – Algir; eller Algir i Merkstave on Cold Spring, and then an intriguing Polish post-metal/post-rock band Tides From Nebula release From Voodoo to Zen on 20-Sep.
Rather helpfully, too, Glitch Mode Recordings announced their upcoming releases in one post last week, which appears to include a new Cyanotic release.
Two notable new singles announced this week: Chicago experimental post-punkers Ganser have a new track Bad Form, a precursor to their second album coming in due course. I’ll be writing more about this next week, but watch the video. In the first of a two-part single release this year, Comaduster releases Riverbound on 13-Aug.

A worthwhile read – activists in Kazakhstan finding a safe space in clubbing, while the end of Severed Heads, for real this time.
