Welcome to the Future: 055: Events, gigs and new release round-up 14-September 2018

Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has resumed the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes here. The latest episode was released last week (transmission: 012), and transmission: 013 will be out in the next couple of weeks.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the new Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”).

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New and Upcoming Releases this week

Not quite as much this week as there was last time around.

Tipped London band LOCK finally released their excellent new single Hey Compadre this week (they’ve been playing it live for an age), while Sheffield industrialists Randolph & Mortimer have dropped their Citizens EP online after a vinyl release didn’t work out – it also includes the belting Schwefelgelb remix that has been torching dancefloors for a while.

Also out today: Orbital are back with Monsters Exist, Lederman De Meyer have released a new Atoms In Fury EP, and beginning a re-release/re-master campaign over the autumn, The Beta Band’s The Best of is out today – from what I can tell The Three EPs re-master has been delayed by a few weeks. There is also an exhibition at J Hammond Projects in Archway that starts today – Zeros to Heroes – The Beta Band Archive.

In upcoming releases, Borghesia’s long-awaited Proti kapitulaciji [Against Capitulation] is finally coming in “late October”, according to a Facebook post by the band this morning. The first release from Interface in five years or more is Dangerous Game (feat. Mari Kattman), while Empathy Test return next month with a new single – Holy Rivers | Incubation Song – in their usual single format of two new songs, two remixes.

In addition to that, VNV Nation have announced Noire, and there’s a new Crystal Method album coming (The Trip Home).

In re-issue news, ASH CODE have signed to Metropolis, with re-issues of their back catalogue to come, while there is a spectacular looking re-issue of Massive Attack’s mighty Mezzanine coming.

Other Things

A great article from RA about EBM in techno, ohGr assaulted and hospitalised in Philadelphia, performs anyway with a broken jaw, and Metallica do possibly the worst cover I’ve ever heard.

Finally, Pitchfork on why Robyn is so important.
