Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has resumed the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes here. The latest episode was released recently (transmission: 010), and transmission: 011 will be out next week.
You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the new Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”).
In a bit of a departure from my previous work, I’ll be presenting at Nine Worlds in August, looking at the links between various areas of relevant “geek culture” and music. If you’re going to be there, expect some unexpected music and discussion.
If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).
New and Upcoming Releases this week
A whole load of new releases and new release announcements to catch up with.
Firstly, AlterRed release their new album Trauma; Trauma Reinforcement today, and play live tonight in Dalston to launch the album. I’ll of course be there and reporting back from the show.
Also out today: Axegrinder return after nearly three decades with Satori, while Black Metal-Shoegaze luminaries deafheaven release Ordinary Corrupt Human Love.
I neglected to mention last week that the – surprisingly good, in the circumstances – new Immortal album Northern Chaos Gods was released, and Hanzel und Gretel released Satanik Germanik last week
Onto the various new release announcements: John Grant returns with Love Is Magic on 12-Oct (the title track is out now), while The Smashing Pumpkins have returned with Solara…which isn’t bad, and is a definite hark back to the old. Statiqbloom are also back with a new video and EP, and I have to say I like this rather more than their material previously.
Then The Twilight Sad have also announced their first new material in some time. There are UK tour dates in November, and a new album (as yet untitled) coming soon on Mogwai’s label Rock Action, but first there is a new single: the curiously titled I/m Not Here [missing face], which again shows a subtle change in style, but it’s still very much them.
There’s yet more. A new Psyclon Nine album is coming (Icon of the Adversary, out 24-Aug), and out the same day on Metropolis is Songs from A Dead City, a collection of early Ego Likeness material, while after their recent new single, I:Scintilla release Swayed, their first new album in eight years, on 01-Sep, and Individual Totem release Electrostatic on 07-Sep. In addition to all that, Deicide are back in September with Overtures of Blasphemy (and word is that it’s a return to form).

Other Things
I used to love The Icarus Line, so I might have to watch this film about them.
While this is a difficult read (and is likely triggering in a number of different ways), but it is perhaps a necessary one: AltPress have a lengthy article about the allegations against William Control.
