Welcome to the Future: 024: Music news and new release round-up 12-January 2018

Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.

A reminder that amodelofcontrol has at last begun a podcast series. It is – to start with at least – the a-z of industrial, and tranmission: 001 and transmission: 002 are now online. You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher. transmission: 003 will (promise!) be available at some point in the next week.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New and Upcoming Releases this week

Watain appear to be heading down the Dimmu Borgir route of album naming, with the release of Trident Wolf Eclipse, while the hotly tipped South London post-punk band Shame release their debut Songs of Praise today. Futher into the future, The Breeders release their new album All Nerve on 02-Mar, their first new album in a decade.

A few notable re-issues too. The classic Lifeforms by Future Sound of London is getting a re-issue on vinyl later this month, while it looks like another lavish Manics re-issue is on the way.

Other things

A fascinating gig announcement is of Clock DVA (finally!) playing older (“Contempo Period”) material live aside from The Hacker and Soundmirror. Only snag is that it is in Florence on 20-Jan. Let’s hope more shows like this come – there is also a new album coming, according to their FB page.

Polish band Decapitated have been freed and charges of rape and kidnapping have been dropped, while the last survivor of the “classic” Motorhead line-up, “Fast” Eddie Clarke died this week.
