/Welcome to the Future /250 /Events, Livestreams and New Releases 23-Jun 2023

Catching up post-holiday, and I reach the 250th weekly roundup.

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Contents

/Releases out today or recently

/Release of the Week

23-Jun 2023 / Swans / The Beggar / Young God Records Store
Two hours of music, and a forty-three minute track – yep, Swans are back…

/New Albums

16-Jun 2023 / Killer Mike / Michael / Bandcamp
Killer Mike steps out solo for the first time in a while, for an album perhaps rather more introspective than RTJ.
23-Jun 2023 / BlackCarBurning / Watching Sleepers / Poponaut Online Store
Mark Hocking of Mesh continues his solo work.

/New Singles/EPs

13-Jun 2023 / ON / Make Me / Bandcamp
Hot on the heels of their last album, ON push forward with another excellent single (and apparently a new album to come, too).
23-Jun 2023 / Suburban Spell / Falling Down EP/ Bandcamp
I’m not especially versed in Aussie synthpop, but this is, I am told, Peter Endall from Schizo Scherzo in his solo project, and this sleek, retro-synthpop release is actually pretty great.

/New Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

12-Jun 2023 / Various Artists / CRL Studios Presents: Forms Volume 1 / Bandcamp
12-Jun 2023 / Various Artists / CRL Studios Presents: Forms Volume 2 / Bandcamp
After Sean Payne of Cyanotic’s horrific crash recently (and the loss of his wife), the scene has really come together to help. The latest stage of that is a two-part compilation helping to raise funds, curated by CRL Studios.
23-Jun 2023 / The Soft Moon / Exister Remixed / Bandcamp
Some intriguing remixes of the latest Soft Moon album.

/Upcoming Releases

The excellent US industrial group are back with new missives.

Long promised, the new Bestial Mouths album is finally coming.
22-Sep 2023 / Cannibal Corpse / Chaos Horrific / Bandcamp
After their best album in many years in 2021, the rejuvenated death metal veterans look to continue that purple patch.

/Upcoming EPs/Singles

28-Jul 2023 / Aphex Twin / Blackbox Life Recorder 21f / in a room7 F760/ Bandcamp
Aphex Twin returns out of nowhere with a new EP.

None this week.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
