There is, perhaps understandably, a desire for many to take things easy right now. Aside from work, what else is there to do? We can’t really go out and socialise, go for a drink, go to a gig, go to the cinema, and so on, so evenings have become pretty sedentary.
After last week, where I finally looked at Opening Songs on albums, this week, I’m heading to the other end of the album, to the Closing Song. But not secret tracks, or outros, songs that actually close albums properly, and interestingly, there are a number of more recent songs featured this week.
A good few weeks ago, I was listening to an album and my thoughts came to the idea of songs about winning. But, then, I thought, what about losing? When I first thought about it, this was inspired by a seemingly never-ending parade of bands who seem to have come up with nothing new themselves that I keep hearing.
