/Welcome to the Future/174/Livestreams and new releases 14-May 2021

Another week, another set of new releases. We should finally have fibre broadband back next week, too, so Livestreams will resume from me soon. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day, for now, still, so I continue to wrap up both, as well as the tentative announcements for new in-person events and gigs.

Also, if you missed them, read my roundup of 2020 in the form of /Countdown/2020. /Countdown/2020/Albums, /Countdown/2020/Tracks, and /Countdown/2020/Compilations and Re-issues.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

/Releases out today or recently

65daysofstatic / Tomorrowd /Bandcamp
The latest installment of the next 65DoS extended project.
ESA / I Detach EP /Bandcamp
A thumping new single from ESA (with an excellent video).
Fightmilk / Contender /Bandcamp
The first Fightmilk album was a wry, catty joy, I’m hoping for similar on this second album.
St. Vincent / Daddy’s Home /Bandcamp
The much talked about new St. Vincent album, which appears on the singles to have transported us to mid-70s New York.
THROAT / Smile Less /Bandcamp
Bruising, noisy-rock from Finnish band THROAT (and it is excellent).

/Upcoming releases announced this week

04-Jun 2021 / Boss Keloid / Family the Smiling Thrush /Bandcamp
The latest album from the ever-excellent, proggy post-metal band Boss Keloid
18-Jun 2021 / Chemlab / Burnout at the Hydrogen Bar /Bandcamp
A much-loved, vitally important stepping stone in industrial rock gets the lavish reissue it has long-deserved.
16-Jul 2021 / A Place to Bury Strangers / Hologram EP /Bandcamp
The noise-rock group return with a new EP (and a gig in London in the new year, too)
24-Jul 2021 / Noise Unit / Deviator /Bandcamp
The long-promised new Noise Unit album
30-Jul 2021 / Underdark / Our Bodies Burned Bright on Re-Entry /Bandcamp
I’m fascinated by this – a Nottingham Black Metal band who are avowedly progressive and anti-fascist in their outlook, with songs about very different topics to the norm in the genre. Expect to hear lead single Coyotes at the next /Stormblast.
20-Aug 2021 / Alabama 3 / Step 13 /Band pre-order
A3 make their return with their first new material since the untimely death of The Very Reverend Dr. D. Wayne Love. The single Whacked is a hoot.
03-Sep 2021 / Manic Street Preachers / The Ultra Vivid Lament /Band pre-order
Finally, The Manics announced their return this morning.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events
Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.

/amodelofcontrol.com/next week
/Tuesday Ten/453 will come next week, as well as the second of the recently completed interviews (this one with LONESAW) – both carried over from last week.

Livestreams are all delayed a bit more, due to delays installing our broadband – but with that finally going live early next week, they will resume the week after.
