The first Friday of February, and it is Bandcamp Day once again – so there is a deluge of new releases and release announcements this week, perhaps more than I’ve ever had on one Friday to cover. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day for now, still, so I continue to wrap up both.

/KLACK / DEKLACKED Vol. 1 /Bandcamp
The outstanding new remix album from KLACK. Expect an interview with Matt and Eric on this site once I get ’round to sending them some questions…
/Kurs / Muter /Bandcamp
Late to the party with this one, but thanks to a glowing I Die: You Die review, this was bought on the spot. Outstanding, glowering cyberpunk electro-industrial of the highest order – expect to hear at least one song from it at /Rivet/014 tonight.
/Sonic Area / Ki /Bandcamp
Another great album from this most fascinating of experimental industrial artists.
/Cult of Luna / The Raging River EP /Bandcamp
The Swedish post-metal titans release another exceptional EP.
/Ploho / Фантомные Чувства /Bandcamp
Another excellent Russian post-punk band, these come from Novosibirsk, Siberia, and there’s a distinctly chilly feel to their sound.
/TERMINAL / Blacken The Skies /Bandcamp
Another you can expect to hear at /Rivet/014 tonight, this South African-American industrial rock group take some interesting, unexpected stylistic choices on this album.
/thorofon · eva|3 / la théorie du diable /Bandcamp
A two-track split release that’s well worth your time.
/ps stamps back / au bout de la nuit /Bandcamp
I’ve not had the chance to hear this one yet, but the description of minimal electronics, beats and literary influences has me intrigued.
/Ash Code / Fear /Bandcamp
A new EP from these Italian post-punk/darkwave stars.
/Himukalt / Knife Through The Spine /Bandcamp
This one is new to me, but…blimey. A CD and digital reissue of an album previously vinyl-only and released in 2018, even the teaser is a shock of brutal industrial/power electronics, and the rest of the album doesn’t disappoint. The digital release is out now, the CD in March.
/Empathy Test / Monsters (expanded edition) /Bandcamp
An expanded edition of Empathy Test’s album from last year. I really rather like the KANGA remix of Love Moves.
/Rabbit Junk / Industrial Is Dead (Remastered) /Bandcamp
/Rabbit Junk / Reckoning /Bandcamp
Two tracks from Rabbit Junk released today, including the much-requested remaster of the searingly snarky Industrial Is Dead, which sounds fantastic now it’s had a spit’n’polish.
/Curve / Superblaster – Bootleg Series Vol. 6 /Bandcamp
/Curve / Fate – Bootleg Series Vol. 7 /Bandcamp
Dean Garcia’s fascinating dig into his DAT archives has continued recently with two more additions, and every one of these has been an essential purchase for the Curve fan.
/Suicide Queen / Swan /Bandcamp
Not completely convinced tagging your release “Marilyn Manson” is a good idea right now, but Suicide Queen’s new single Swan is a solid slab of sleazy goth-industrial-rock that while it sounds an awful lot like MM, at least a tick in the box is that it isn’t actually MM. Album Nymphomaniac comes later in the year, apparently.
/Crunch Pod / Battery Sentinel 3 (CRUNCH 200) /Bandcamp
This venerable industrial/noise label mark their 200th release with an expansive compilation.
/Upcoming releases announced this week
12-Feb 2021 / Blockdata / Vacuum Decay EP /Bandcamp
An excellent, atmospheric EP of drum’n’bass that doesn’t forget to bring the hammer down when needed.
26-Feb 2021 / Nul Telexes / Menhir /Bandcamp
An album of darkwave synth from this relatively new artist.
26-Feb 2021 / Burning Gates / Before the Rain /Bandcamp
Proper old-school goth rock.
05-Mar 2021 / Chiasm & John Fryer / Missed The Noise /Bandcamp
The new album from this hotly-tipped artist, now working with John Fryer.
05-Mar 2021 / Ungraven / Slomatics / Ungraven / Slomatics Split 12″ /Black Bow Records
Riffs, Riffs and more Riffs make up this impressive sludge-doom split EP. I played the opening track last night at /Stormblast/146.
26-Mar 2021 / Death From Above 1979 / Is 4 Lovers /Drift Records
DFA return with their second album since they reformed. Is the magic still there? Guess we’ll see next month.
26-Mar 2021 / Cabaret Voltaire / Shadow of Funk EP /Bandcamp
26-Mar 2021 / Cabaret Voltaire / Dekadrone /Bandcamp
26-Mar 2021 / Cabaret Voltaire / BN9drone /Bandcamp
Blimey, Richard Kirk has been busy of late. Single Billion Dollar is an excellent, funky electro track, and bodes well for this EP that appears to be a sister release to the excellent Shadow of Fear album from late last year. The other two are, I believe, lengthy drone releases. Huh.
16-Apr 2021 / Cannibal Corpse / Violence Unimagined /Metal Blade website
Cannibal Corpse roar back, complete with Erik Rutan now as a full member, and if lead single Inhumane Harvest is anything to go by, it’s going to be quite something.
20-Apr 2021 / Bongzilla / Weedsconsin /Bandcamp
I mean, of course this is released on 20-Apr. Lead single Sundae Driver is grimy, stoner doom filth, exactly as I’d expect.
/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events
Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.
This weekly listing has now seen a significant overhaul and has moved over to a Shareable calendar format. The below draws direct from a GCal I’ve long maintained, and you can add it to your own calendar views if you wish (GCal link, iCal link), and then you will get dynamic updates as I get them. Otherwise, see the events listing below – click on the links to bring up the Calendar entry.
If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
