Welcome to the Future: 034: Events, gigs and new release round-up 23-March 2018

Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has resumed the run through of the a-z of industrial, with transmission: 003, transmission: 004 and transmission: 005 joining 001 and 002 online recently, and we’ll be continuing with e on transmission: 006 very soon. You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New and Upcoming Releases this week

Out today is an interesting mix of new material and styles.

The complex post-industrial machinations of HIDE are laid bare in the exceptional Castration Anxiety, while the equally interesting and experimental Ben Frost has another new EP – All That You Love Will Be Eviscerated. In addition, industrialists UCNX have released Covertrax, a nod to their influences.

The rejuvenated Will Haven are back with the epic Muerte, and the intriguing post-punk band Preoccupations return with the slyly-named New Material.

Finally for today’s releases, Greek Blackened-Death Metal legends Rotting Christ celebrate 30 years with a lengthy “best-of” Their Greatest Spells (over thirty songs!), while literally this morning Misery Loves Co. released their latest new track Suburban Breakdown.

Looking further forwards, here’s the first taste of the new STRVNGERS album, while Front Line Assembly (finally) return with Warmech, the follow-up to the exceptional Airmech (see also But Listen: 129), in June.

Also returning are Death Grips, with Year of the Snitch, while Tony from Autoclav 1.1 and Andreas from xotox are releasing a new collaboration next month as Natura Est on ant-zen.

While, Wire is no longer quite so forward-looking, perhaps? With re-issues coming of the first three albums.
