Continuing the process of wrapping up the last decade before it disappears too far into the rearview mirror, this is the second part of the best albums of the 2010s.

The idea for this post actually came out some months ago, when I saw a post by a friend talking about an inspirational woman in music, and it got me thinking, after she agreed to take part in a then-nascent idea – could I ask other women I knew to do the same, to talk […]
Back around to another Friday already, hurtling deep into Autumn here in the UK, with Christmas already looming on the horizon. But enough of distant holidays, let us talk about the music that is around right now, and there is a lot of it this week.
Welcome to the seventh edition of this now-regular weekly round-up of music news, releases, events and happenings that might be of interest to the readers of amodelofcontrol.com. This is, of course, a perhaps selective list, as I can’t cover everything, but if I’m missing anything obvious, please let me know (details below on how to […]
After as usual a month or two off from this – new releases are thin on the ground at the end of the year anyway, and the end-of-year lists (start here if you missed them) take up a lot of time – it’s time to get back to telling you, the reader, about some of […]
Week three of the amodelofcontrol.com roundup of 2014, and this is, I guess, the big one. The albums of the year.
Here we go, then, with the run-down of the best tracks of 2014 – according to me, anyway. 2014 has been an odd year, as friends will know – life has rather got in the way in a number of respects, which has cut down the amount of writing I’ve been able to do, but […]
Within a ten year period, Alter der Ruine have released five albums, various EPs, remixes, unleashed a inescapable dancefloor anthem, split up, reformed, and drastically changed their style – without apparently alienating their fanbase along the way. This doesn’t sound like a too difficult thing to do, until you look a little closer at exactly […]
After a couple of lean months, suddenly I’ve been deluged with new music worth writing about. I’m strict about keeping the Tracks of the Month list to ten, though, so some may be held off until next month.
This weekend saw me back again to my previous home city, to attend the now annual Resistanz Festival, which joins the much longer-running Infest in now offering two major industrial festivals a year for the UK. Last year was broadly enormous fun, with a good mix of new and old bands, and I was looking […]
Yet again, this list was a tough one. 2012 actually ended up being an impressive year for new music, as far as I was concerned, it just didn’t all come from the corners that I was expecting.
Here are ten more songs and artists you should hear about, that have been rocking my world over the past month.
During 2011 I bought an awful lot of albums. at least 75, in fact. And so many that some that might have made it in a normal year ended up being missed off this list. So there may well be a “what I overlooked” post at the end of the year, just to ensure that […]
This is the eighth year that I’ve done a rundown of the music released in the past year – and every year I seem to end up with more material to cover.
It has been a while since the last ADR album – I reviewed the gloriously chaotic mash-up of styles that was The Giants From Far Away a couple of months short of three years ago now, and have been looking forward to new material for some time.
Ok, so it’s my usual monthly roundup of ten songs you should hear. Or go back and listen to again if you have already.
So, before I rush headlong into my top ten tracks of 2009 (albums next week, gigs the week after), a quick mention of a few acts that have wowed me, bored me, surprised me or otherwise this year. Some of these may be in the other lists, others won’t be.
Following on from the rundown of my top 100 tracks of the decade, it’s now time for my top fifty albums of the decade, which starts today and will be concluded next week (I wanted this done by Whitby and the end of the month).
A new month, so time for my usual round-up of tracks I think you should hear this time around.
A bit of a chance one, this – after exchanging a few e-mails with Mike T. from ADR over an album review, and getting some interesting responses to my first question or two, this was turned into something of a fully-fledged e-mail interview. So here goes…
