/Welcome to the Future /294 /Events, Livestreams and New Releases 21-Aug 2025

Back from Infest and to normal life again, and I feel like I could do with sleeping for a week.

Sad news yesterday, too, that Brent Hinds, the former frontman of Mastodon, was killed in a motorcycle crash aged just 51. Mastodon have featured on this site and in my DJ sets a good many times, and he leaves a hell of a legacy of work.

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/amodelofcontrol.com now has a Patreon page, at this stage purely as a potential way of helping to cover the running costs of the site. There is absolutely no compulsion to do so: if you feel you can chuck a small amount to the site each month, that would be appreciated.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/Albums of the Week

15-Aug 2025 / Comaduster / Memory Echoes / Bandcamp
Another astonishing work of sonic art from Comaduster. It spins off in different directions stylistically at points, but everything is kept balanced. Real Cardinal’s work just keeps getting better.
22-Aug 2025 / Deftones / Private Music / Official Artist Store
The new Deftones album is their best since Diamond Eyes – the usual light and shade permeates the sound, but with more riffs than in a while, too…

/New Albums

01-Aug 2025 / The Armed / THE FUTURE IS HERE AND EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE DESTROYED / Bandcamp
Detroit collective The Armed are taking no prisoners with their ferocious new album.
15-Aug 2025 / Alison Goldfrapp / Flux / Official Artist Store
A neon-light electro album from an artist who is more than familiar with the style.
15-Aug 2025 / Street Sects / Dry Drunk / Bandcamp
15-Aug 2025 / Street Sex / Full Color Eclipse / Bandcamp
Two albums from Street Sects that couldn’t be more different. One is full of the searing rage I’ve come to expect, the other has melody, choruses and sounds surprisingly great.
20-Aug 2025 / Caustic / FIEND I / Bandcamp
The first of a pair of albums from Caustic – the first under that name from Matt Fanale in some time – is a surprisingly varied, thoughtful work.
22-Aug 2025 / The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die / Dreams of Being Dust / Bandcamp
The band with the name longer than some other band’s songs return with an album that is notably shorter than the last one – a band I’m fascinated to see live at Damnation in November, too.

/New Singles/EPs

15-Aug 2025 / Das Ich / Lazarus / Bandcamp
Can’t say I was expecting a new Das Ich single in 2025…
22-Aug 2025 / Test Dept. / Full Spectrum Dominance / Bandcamp
22-Aug 2025 / Test Dept. / Information Scare / Bandcamp
Newly signed to Artoffact – with a new album coming next year, along with “a reissue series” (I’m hoping for a reissue of Shoulder to Shoulder, myself) – a couple of thumping remixes have been released in the meantime.

/New Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

22-Aug 2025 / Bill Leeb / Machine Vision / Bandcamp
Bill Leeb follows up his solo album with a collection of remixes.
22-Aug 2025 / Various Artists / Compilation 4: Postcards To Mars / Bandcamp
Folkestone label Blaktrax continues the compilation series with another wildly varied release.

/Upcoming Releases

/Upcoming Albums

19-Sep 2025 / Scorpion Milk / Slime of the Times / Bandcamp
Mat McNerney returns with a solo album this time, continuing his style of searing, sharp post-punk (and the album is great).
03-Oct 2025 / SARIN / Searching Hell / Bandcamp
SARIN’s first full-length album in six years, and the first tracks from it remind just how savage their industrialised techno can be.
24-Oct 2025 / Just Mustard / WE WERE JUST HERE / Bandcamp
The Irish shoegaze/noise-rock group return, and there’s the characteristic, tense undercurrent to their new material.
31-Oct 2025 / Anna von Hausswolff / ICONOCLASTS / Purchasing and Streaming Links
Seven years since the astonishing Dead Magic, and five since the organ-based All Thoughts Fly, Anna von Hausswolff returns at last. I suspect it’s going to be A Lot, again.

/Upcoming EPs/Singles

05-Sep 2025 / Years of Denial / Love Cuts / Bandcamp
One of the most striking acts at Resistanz this year release their latest EP.
31-Oct 2025 / Ventenner / Slow Dissolve / Streaming Links
I can’t say I was expecting any more Ventenner material, so a new EP is a pleasant surprise.

/Upcoming Compilations, Live Albums, Reissues

03-Oct 2025 / Ladytron / Witching Hour (20th Anniversary) / Bandcamp
The vinyl sold out in the blink of an eye, but Ladytron’s greatest album is always worth a revisit.
07-Nov 2025 / William Basinski / The Disintegration Loops – Arcadia Archive Edition / Bandcamp
William Basinski’s legendary, elegant exploration of deterioration gets a lavish, five-hour expansion.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. The listing has had a revamp and redesign (and I’m re-adding events, so it’s a bit of a work in progress).

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
