/Tuesday Ten/467/Tracks of the Month/Sep-21
Another one a week later than usual, but then, life is weird and really damned busy right now. Here’s the latest slab of tracks of the month – with a bonus eleventh because it is late.
Now ten years old and counting, my regular series of Tuesday posts takes in new music and sometimes rather random categories.
Another one a week later than usual, but then, life is weird and really damned busy right now. Here’s the latest slab of tracks of the month – with a bonus eleventh because it is late.
Following on from last week, we’re onto two-letter word song titles. And, it turns out, this was possibly the hardest of the lot – certainly going on the suggestions, there aren’t many of them.
A certain friend suggested recently that I open a suggestion thread for songs with four-letter titles (that were actual words – no punctuation, no abbreviations, no numbers). It spawned something of a monster, as I also asked about three-, two- and one-letter song titles (with the same rules).
We’ve got one last blast of summer here this week, before we begin the tumble down into the cooler climes of Autumn. Clubs seem to be back in full force – of course with restrictions – while some gigs are happening, others still being postponed. None of which is stopping the continuing flood of new […]
Lockdown might be “over” in the UK – insomuch as the Government seems to have washed their hands of responsibility for it – but there are a lot of people still trying to reduce their contact with the outside world, in circumstances where they can’t control potential contact or transmission.
This was one of the first suggestion threads where many of the responses really frustrated me. What is a landmark? Let’s check the definition of a landmark: /Tuesday Ten/462/A Time and a Place [cardoza_facebook_like_box] /Tuesday Ten/Playlists /Playlists/Spotify /Playlists/YouTube /Tuesday Ten/On Location /065/Places /082/Life In The City /135/A Night On The Town /212/Chicago /247/London /275/First We […]
As many of my friends will know, my wife and I have become infamous for our adventures in cocktails. Be that hitting the bars of pretty much any city we visit to try cocktails, to the immense booze collection we have at home to make our own, we’ve tried a whole host of them and […]
A week later than usual, thanks to a busy summer, but I got there in the end – here’s this month’s tracks of the month.
There are times when I ask questions for this long-running series that turn out, well, differently to how I might have expected, and this is one of those times.
We’re halfway through the year (already!), and into a new month, thus it is time for another wrap-up of the best new music of the past month on /amodelofcontrol.com.
While I’ve alluded to it before, and indeed perhaps referenced it in the odd song in this series – now over fourteen years old, and 457 posts in – I’ve never explicitly written about school days, so this week, I change that – mainly after the realisation that this summer marks twenty-five years since I […]
Perhaps not for the first time, this week I’m wondering how exactly I’ve left it this long to cover a subject. It is very much one of those things that I should have covered some time ago, but apparently I never got ’round to it. So, as usual, I asked my friends, and was perhaps […]
The sun is back, we’ve basked in glorious weather the entire Bank Holiday weekend (a miracle in itself), and we’re already into June. This means another wrap-up of the best new music of the past month on /amodelofcontrol.com.
As I’ve noted before, I come from a military family. My parents both lived overseas as children and teenagers when their fathers were stationed in Germany (in different locations), and then met while living on adjacent army camps, as I understand it, north of Salisbury – and indeed I was born in Salisbury, and for […]
Now the majority of the moving-in rigmarole is finally done – we have a couple of small side tables to build and that’s about it – not to mention our fibre broadband finally installed and live, I can begin to return to some kind of normality on /amodelofcontrol.com. That should mean a return to weekly […]
Into the fifteenth year of /Tracks of the Month posts, then, and this post has been written mostly during a quieter weekend, after a week that has seen a blizzard of unpacking as we settle into our new house on the Kent coast. One thing still not sorted, mind, is our internet – currently working […]
In a decision that perhaps would have surprised me a few years ago, never mind my wife, later this week we move out of London, our home for more than the past decade, for a new life by the coast. I’ve spent over a quarter of my life in this one flat in Finsbury Park, […]
This week’s post – the 450th /Tuesday Ten – was inspired by a conversation with Daisy while flicking through the music channels a couple of weeks ago. So much has happened already since then that I think we’ve forgotten some of the detail, but we were watching The White Stripes, and it got us thinking […]
Despite the cooler temperatures for the past day or so, the past week generally has finally felt like Spring has arrived. We’ve basked in sunshine for a few days, it’s been that bit warmer, and suddenly Finsbury Park is full of green again.
For a variety of reasons, this past month has been an almighty slog, and last week I took a Tuesday off from the /Tuesday Ten series for the first time in well over a year (it always takes a scheduled break for the end of year /Countdown series in December, as well as over Christmas, […]
