/Welcome to the Future/160/Livestreams and new releases 29-Jan 2021

The last Friday of January, daylight is edging into the early evening, and maybe hints of Spring are starting to appear. Lockdown looks like it’s going to go on for a while yet, mind, festivals are beginning to be cancelled for the summer (again), and so livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day for now.

Also, if you missed them, read my roundup of 2020 in the form of /Countdown/2020. /Countdown/2020/Albums, /Countdown/2020/Tracks, and /Countdown/2020/Compilations and Re-issues.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

Out last week:
/Årabrot / The World Must Be Destroyed /Bandcamp
One of the standouts from Ten Years of Chaos last year (/Memory of a Festival/034 tells you more) return with a new EP.
/Trade Secrets / These Other Lives Part Two /Bandcamp
Something of an industrial/electronic supergroup, they seem to have been a bit “under the radar” previously, but are well worth checking out.
/A Projection / Darwin’s Eden /YouTube
The return of this excellent post-punk/cold-wave band with a melodic, driving new single.

Out this week:
/Eximperituserqethhzebibšiptugakkathšulweliarzaxułum / Šahrartu /Bandcamp
Belarusian tech-death metal with an unpronounceable name
/Rome / Parlez-Vous Hate? /Bandcamp
I’ve never quite been able to work out if Rome are actually taking the piss or not, but their strident, left-wing Neo-folk certainly stands out.
/The Body / I’ve Seen All I Need to See /Bandcamp
Another experimental metal/doom band that seem to never, ever stop, this is their eighth album, as well as their ten collaborative albums and a similar number of EPs…

/Upcoming releases announced this week

05-Feb 2021 / /KLACK / DEKLACKED Vol. 1 /Bandcamp
It’s not on Bandcamp yet, but released next week is a remix album with an impressive list of remixers.
19-Mar 2021 / /Consolidated / We’re Already There /Bandcamp
The long-promised comeback album finally has a release date. I spoke to Adam from the band on /Talk Show Host/063 last year.
09-Apr 2021 / /Årabrot / Norwegian Gothic /Bandcamp
As well as the recent EP, this fascinating Norwegian band have a new album coming.
30-Apr 2021 / /Royal Blood / Typhoons /Band Shop
The Brighton rock duo return
30-Apr 2021 / /Ganser / Look at the Sun EP /Bandcamp
The parent album was #2 on /Countdown/2020/Albums, this remix EP looks to be shaping up to be fascinating. Bad Form (Sad13 Remix) was revealed this week.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events
Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

This weekly listing has now seen a significant overhaul and has moved over to a Shareable calendar format. The below draws direct from a GCal I’ve long maintained, and you can add it to your own calendar views if you wish (GCal link, iCal link), and then you will get dynamic updates as I get them. Otherwise, see the events listing below – click on the links to bring up the Calendar entry.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
