/Tuesday Ten/413/Senses Working Overtime/Sound
Just over two years ago, I asked for suggestions around songs involving the senses. Needless to say, this ended up being a gargantuan thread, with the easy decision made to split it out.
Now ten years old and counting, my regular series of Tuesday posts takes in new music and sometimes rather random categories.

This post was held over from yesterday, as /amodelofcontrol.com observed #theshowmustbepaused (and made a few small contributions to help to try and make a better future). The world might be going to hell in about a million different ways, but I’m still writing. It is my outlet right now, a way of getting a ton […]

There is, perhaps understandably, a desire for many to take things easy right now. Aside from work, what else is there to do? We can’t really go out and socialise, go for a drink, go to a gig, go to the cinema, and so on, so evenings have become pretty sedentary.
One of the more depressing elements – as if we needed any more of them – of the current COVID-19 pandemic has been the rush to conspiracy and misinformation. It’s understandable, in a way – find a way to try and deal with what feels like an impossible situation – but some of those taking […]
The end of the first full calendar month of lockdown – a month where I’ve barely travelled more than 1km beyond the confines of our flat, and have, in musical terms, otherwise been involved in livestreams and listening to an awful lot of music (both from my own collection and online) while spending even more […]
Following on from last week, there’s been lots of warnings of late. Warnings to social distance, warnings to stay at home, warnings about what to do if you’re infected. We’re also – well, were, before the rain came today – hearing announcements in Finsbury Park telling people not to sunbathe or lounge around in the […]
Everywhere I’ve looked over the past month, someone has been offering advice. Be that official Government advice, a Doctor’s advice, employer advice…your friend from down the road who did a first aid course once advice.
In what I think is a first – or at least the first time in a long time – I was messaged about a suggestion for a /Tuesday Ten recently (by someone who isn’t my partner), and this is out this week’s post came about. So thanks to Kai for suggesting an appropriate /Tuesday Ten […]
Blimey, even a month is a long time in music, eh? When I wrote /Tuesday Ten/398, there was a gathering storm on the horizon, so to speak, and since then, pretty much everything has ground to a halt unless it happens in your house, or on the internet. But, music is still being released.
The advent of the COVID-19 effective lockdown has left many of us in a quandary. How do you keep fit when you should be avoiding leaving the house as much as possible? The Government has advice on this, of course, and when we take a walk locally each day, we are seeing an awful lot […]
As a number of people in comment and meme form have joked this past week or two, this isn’t the dystopian future we were promised. But it’s the one we’ve got, and it is remarkable how certain outlooks have changed. Certain political policies that were ridiculed just three months ago have become instantly popular – […]
Things feel weird right now, so it maybe feels out of step to be celebrating anything. But while we begin to start isolating away to reduce the spread of this virus, one thing I can do is keep writing. So maybe this period might increase my writing output, we shall see. But the /Tuesday Ten […]
As I mentioned last week on /Tuesday Ten/398, I went to see Nadine Shah at the end of February, and the support band were the hugely entertaining Melt Yourself Down, whose new single is the excellent Crocodile. As is often the way, a song triggered a thought about other reptilian songs.
After the glut last month, I’ve brought this back to a more manageable ten songs again, but there were certainly a lot of tracks to get my attention this month (and some of them will be featured on other posts anyway, so they aren’t going to miss out). Once again, too, there is quite a […]
I’ve been conscious that lately, I seem to have been covering darker subjects in this series, and I began to wonder, maybe, I should do a more positive post? Right now many friends are striving, working, and hoping for something better in one way or another, so I put out a call for songs that […]
Sometimes, it feels like my life is simply following a long list of instructions. How to work the various equipment in our homes and offices, how to use transport, how to get somewhere, the recipes we follow. Weather warnings, travel advice, reminders about things to do from friends and partners. How to do our jobs.
As I’ve noted before, I ask about some subjects – and get a lot of suggestions – without actually using them immediately. Sometimes, it might take me a little while to sift through the songs that I have and work out how to string them together – and sometimes, the songs I get simply don’t […]
The new year has started well for new music. In fact very well, as all kinds of new music has been flying at me from all directions, or so it feels. Which is why this week has more than ten songs – I finally stopped at sixteen – and I suspect that future /Tracks of […]
