Tuesday Ten: 085: Tracks of the Month (September 2009)
So, then: ten tracks for the month.
Now ten years old and counting, my regular series of Tuesday posts takes in new music and sometimes rather random categories.
So, then: ten tracks for the month.
This month’s ten tracks I think you should hear.
This week’s Tuesday Ten comes courtesy of two things, really: this article about soundtrack writers, and then Cyanotic’s recent re-working of the Terminator theme. Both of these got me thinking about soundtracks, as somehow I don’t think I’ve ever actually covered them in a Tuesday Ten. But I’m not going for the easy option of just […]
This week, it’s time to revisit a list I’ve had partially completed for weeks. It’s all about life in the city. I love living in the city and indeed have done so for much of my life. I love the bustle, the crowded streets, the fast pace of life, and the fact that there is […]
A new month, so time for my usual round-up of tracks I think you should hear this time around.
Ideas for future Tuesday Tens are coming thick and fast at the moment, and indeed I have the core of two more already completed too, and this week’s was a late change of plan, mainly after I realised just how many songs could be included. So the other two I have planned will be held […]
A perhaps predictable subject for this week’s Tuesday Ten: it’s all about space, what with it being the 40th anniversary of the first moon landings this week. I’ve always thought of songs written to be about space travel, or related subjects, to be a very common theme, but in the event it actually turned out […]
The 90s were a heyday for industrial metal – let’s be honest, few bands have been able to continue a high quality output of this style into this decade, and fewer more recent bands still have been able to keep the flame alive (with notable exceptions being the likes of Interlock and Cyanotic). To confirm […]
It’s time for my run-down of ten of the best tracks I’ve heard in the past month.
And now individual tracks..
I don’t usually do this, but as I’ve remembered – and there has been a fair amount of stuff to recommend – I’m taking a break from the usual Tuesday Ten subjects to do a rundown of ten albums and ten songs worth hearing from 2009 so far, as we reach the halfway point of […]
It was, of course, Father’s Day this Sunday just gone, and for this week’s /Tuesday Ten I thought it appropriate to use this theme. I think my voracious appetite for music comes from my dad – ever since I can remember there has been a steady flow of “new” music into the house, in a […]
A list that seemed to grow every time I even thought about it, this one – songs about crime. Perhaps I wasn’t specific enough in my initial criteria, but hell, I’ve got so many I’m going to be covering more than ten this week.
This week was going to be a run-through of songs involving one or more of the seven deadly sins, which many of you may remember me asking about a few weeks back. But finding a selection I was happy with has been very hard indeed, so this week I’m concentrating on just one of the […]
Another new month (where is this year going?!?), so time for my usual monthly roundup of ten tracks you should hear. If there are other things I should hear, please tell me…
Driving down to Cambridge on a warm summer’s day last Sunday got Daisy and I thinking about songs that we associate with the summer. Certainly, there are some songs that simply “work” better, or suit my mood more, when the sun is shining (and likewise similar happens with other songs during the winter).
Time for my usual monthly roundup.
With it being Easter this weekend, I thought it perhaps apt that I turn to the subject of religion for this week’s TT. Although not unexpected, perhaps, with the music that I listen to, it proved somewhat difficult to find that many songs that cast religion in a positive light. Still, I did find the […]
Only just got this collated in time, but it's time for my usual ten tracks of the past month. Lots of new stuff to cover, so let's get on with it.
I’m sure I’ve at least mentioned these in passing before, but I can’t find it (the perils of using titles to posts that don’t actually tell me all that much when searching for things!), so it’s perhaps overdue that I make this into a Tuesday Ten, especially with such an interesting response on Facebook and […]
