Another Friday, another round-up. As always this is a look at upcoming releases, relevant music news and upcoming events and gigs worth spending some of your time at. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and I’m always on the lookout for more to include.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has resumed the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes here. The latest episode was released this week (transmission: 010).
You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the new Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”).
In a bit of a departure from my previous work, I’ll be presenting at Nine Worlds in August, looking at the links between various areas of relevant “geek culture” and music. If you’re going to be there, expect some unexpected music and discussion.
If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).
New and Upcoming Releases this week
I’ve probably missed something obvious, but there doesn’t appear to be a great deal out this week.
There is a new 2nd Face EP that I should have mentioned last week, though, and To Mega Therion’s brutal Industrial-Noise/Black Metal hybrid The Blood Rituals is re-released next week, with a bonus track.

Other Things
Perhaps the really big news in our thing this week is today’s announcement of the “new” Whitby events at The Spa in October. The Blogging Goth helpfully explains all, including the impressive band line-up.
Other things of note. Uptown Funk: one lawsuit resulting in additional credits, two settlements and another pending. No wonder the song sounded so familiar…
Steve Albini is now a major poker star, with his big win in the World Series of Poker. While Dave Haslam appears to have scared off Morrissey from touring the UK and EU at the moment.
Finally, Spotify’s flooding of the service with all Drake all last weekend has gone down about as well as Apple’s sending of a U2 album to every user, and Pitchfork are asking some interesting questions.
