It has, to be fair, been a tough week. The loss of an old friend has hit a number of us surprisingly hard, but the happy memories being posted in the past few days have helped an awful lot. That and illness doing the rounds has made for a slog of a week that at least has a happy ending.

That happy ending is tomorrow night, where my wife and I finally get to see Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds live. I’ve only waited twenty-five years to do so, and of course one of his songs was our first dance at our wedding last year. The chances of the latter being played are fairly slim, though…
Anyway, due to the above and a generally busy week, plans to post more this week have been pushed back, but there are a few new posts that will appear next week in addition to Tuesday Ten: 311.
A reminder that my DJing alter-ego DJ:traumahound returns to the decks in a few weeks time at the GVWI Hallowe’en Party, alongside some familiar names. I have one more DJ commitment this year, too, that I’ll announce in good time.
Also, of course, amodelofcontrol.com will be at Whitby next month (although unlikely to be writing about bands – it’s a holiday for the site! – I’ll be playing for Real Gothic FC as usual, though) and then also BIMFest 2017 in December – as well as various other gigs in London (and potentially at least one more some way further afield).
If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).
New Releases this week
Cold Wave industrialists Cyanotic dropped their new album Tech Noir yesterday (review to follow, needless to say), and Cyanotic also feature on one track on the excellent new Slighter album Erode. Also from the mid-west, KLACK have released the four-track EP Do You Klack? EP (does Matt Fanale ever stop?).
Further afield, new project 11Grams have released the also excellent Panacea, but their label EK really need to sort digital distribution (try as I might, I’ve failed so far to find it for purchase online aside from in physical format at Poponaut – the label appeared to have stopped using Bandcamp some time ago). Finally, also out today is the new Ben Frost album The Centre Cannot Hold.
Upcoming Releases
The much-anticipated new Legend album Midnight Champion is just two weeks away from release, and the epic title track has a striking video, filmed in a beautiful part of Iceland that I recognised immediately (the village of Vík í Mýrdal on the south coast).
Empathy Test have finally been able to confirm release dates for their twin debut albums, and on 25-Nov they play a show in London to launch them – the albums will be available digitally 17-Nov (with a single on 03-Nov). (Ed: corrected with updated info from the band).
Finally, Noir (Athan from Spahn Ranch) returns with the Reburning EP later in October.

Other things
Next year’s Bloodstock headliners have all now been announced: Judas Priest, Gojira and Nightwish. Well, two out of three ain’t bad…
I don’t know anything about Nothing More, but this is a hell of an instrument to use onstage.
Finally, sad times – the fascinating band Wild Beasts are splitting up (Boy King was #20 on Countdown: 2016: Albums).
