Our December event is a bit different this year… we are teaming up with Beat:Cancer to bring you a Christmas party to end all christmas parties… well. At least those that we’ve run, in the facebar, on the 7th of December….
We are pleased to present GrabYourFace, MATT HART, Red Meat and Paresis as our live acts… plus special guest DJs Gilly Woo and Kohl to provide the post-band entertainment all the way through to 3am!
The nearest car park is Q-Park on Chatham street, about a minute from the venue. It is open all night, and secure. A slightly cheaper alternative is the Oracle car park, which is a longer walk, through town.
Pre-event drinking establishment of choice for local goths would be the Castle Tap where they serve an excellent selection of proper beers/ales/gins. This is on Castle hill, the bottom end of Carey Street on the event map.

Beat:Cancer is a charity formed to help fight cancer through funding research, treatment, screening and care using electronic music: We release music, run club nights, host gigs and organise festivals to raise money, which we then grant to worthy institutions such as hospices, research centres and treatment wards.
Reading’s original goth/alternative club, raising generations of goths on whatever we felt was appropriate (or inappropriate) at the time has risen from the grave after the worldwide pandemic reminded us that friends are everything. The regular (and many of the guest) DJs have gone on to run other clubs or form bands across the UK, with many still active in the scene 20+ years later (Don’t do the maths!)
With past guests pulled from clubs across uk clubs as well as international celebrities Seize, Mark Jackson and Daniel Myer.
Since lockdown has eased we’ve taken the chance to finally pull Church of Madness out of it’s long retirement and regenerate into in it’s new quarterly Vs.. mode. It’s almost Church of Madness Turbo edition where our guests could be bringing music from anywhere and everywhere!
