/Welcome to the Future/185/Livestreams and new releases 20-Aug 2021

Still lots of cases, but clubs and gigs continue to open up. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. There are still some things going on, as well as the usual slew of releases, so I continue to wrap up both, as well as the tentative announcements for new in-person events and gigs.

Also, if you missed them, read my roundup of 2020 in the form of /Countdown/2020. /Countdown/2020/Albums, /Countdown/2020/Tracks, and /Countdown/2020/Compilations and Re-issues.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

Quicksand / Distant Populations /Bandcamp
Out last week, this second post-reunion album from Quicksand is, to be frank, vastly stronger than the first.
Alabama 3 / Step 13 /Band Store
The acid-country veterans return with their first album since the death of The Very Reverend Dr. D. Wayne Love, and there is a near celebratory air, judging on the singles – one where his spirit continues to inspire the excellence of this band.
Deafheaven / Infinite Granite /Bandcamp
More shoegaze, less metal, at least at first listen…
MILDREDA / I Was Never Really There /Bandcamp
Jan Dewulf returns with his long-dormant Mildreda project, for an excellent exploration of the fringes of industrial.
Wolves In The Throne Room / Primordial Arcana /Bandcamp
Pastoral, metal experimentalists back with their new album.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week
A trio of notable reissues have been announced recently.

Autumn 2021 / Girls Against Boys / House of GVSB /News
No date yet, but GVSB announced a (US) tour for the new year just recently to coincide with the re-release of probably their best-loved album.
04-Sep 2021 / Silverfish / Fat Axl /Love Record Stores
Lesley Rankine teased about this earlier in the year, and here it is – a long-needed remaster of the mighty FAT AXL.
01-Oct 2021 / Garbage / beautifulgarbage (20th Anniversary Edition) /Band Store
Garbage continue their reissue series with an album that has perhaps got better over time.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events
Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
